Betcha many people here listened and skipped buying the 1oz silver and only bought the 5oz ;)

Thus being unaffected by the "OMP" issue :D

What do you guys think is a realistic sell price for the 5oz from the 1st die?

Sorry I meant the 30th anniversary gold coin. I don't know where to buy or how much it is selling. I read the 1/10oz gold is very nicely done. Shenyang Mint invested a lot of money into the facility and design.

I have personal hate against the SICF medal, not about the price, or design, or the mint, or the issuer, or the distributor, or the packaging, or the quality, but for some very personal reason carried from previous experience, which is best not to discuss here.

To me it is all about quality.

I value the first medal from the first die to be higher than the last medal produced from first die, simply because the 255th medal will be the poorest from the 1st die.

Given 256th medal (first medal from 2nd die) or 255th, I prefer 256th.

Anyway, personally, (I really mean personally), the study of varieties in MCC is a bit "over" to a, very, scary extent. I am not sure if this is healthy or it is not.

I don't like when a minute variety that one need a 10x loupe and a pair of eagle eyes to detect, is called a variety.

Collecting varieties is not new to me though I didn't do it for very long. But the varieties talk in MCC really makes me think if I should just stop thinking varieties.

There are no less than 400 varieties known for the Republic fat man dollar which was minted between 1914 and 1921. I am quite sure there are a lot more than that, but what means it is to me?

I hate varieties too low... 2 or 3 I can handle but more than that I no longer care.

Even for the 5oz SICF medal I can't tell the differences in varieties apart from the obvious cracked die batch and the ones after.

That explains why I suck at LunarOwl's "spot the difference" games.

I thought badon's post was interesting ..... that the fact that they came with any packaging at all was a bonus, considering no packaging is the way "it has been for several years."

I have four type 1 1oz silver sing pandas.
    Anybody interested in swapping
    Type 1 for type 2
    Or
    Type 1 for type 3
Still too early to tell if one has a greater value than the others.
Are NGC going to recognize the variations?

(The blobs on the panda are not on the coin - its the plastic seal touching the capsule)

My 1/2 oz gold coin has 3 sides sealed but one side open. Is this normal or I should ask for exchange? Thanks.

Thank you comeaux. I got it now. So given this, it is better to get 1/2 gold graded than keep in OMP?
