I guess the "fade" is where the raised part of the medal has rubbed on the original pouch, probably making it unclear what the medal is like underneath, hence the ziplock bag to actually protect the pouch rather than the coin.

The issue I would be concerned about, is without the medal being in a capsule, both the pouch and PVC ziplock bag (is it PVC free?) may give PVC damage issues if storing long term...

Might be best to send for grading and subsequently fitted into a slab?

    Nice medals though :)

    Edit: added linky

"Baggie" raw materials are Polyethylene (PE) not (PVC)

Thanks honson for clearing that up.

But that still leaves the pattern of the seal of the plastic pouch itself.

Here are 3 pictures (the first picture is a close up of part of the seal that a Wutai silver medal came in) of Wutai silver medals. The second and third images in fact is the medal I received. The seal pattern on the first looks a little different than the pattern of the seal on the other 2 pictures, to me. Am I wrong?

What kind of air-tite capsules can these fit if we don't want to keep them in the OMP? The high points of the picture protrudes out too much to fit in any standard ones.

I would like to share the pictures of putuo and Lohan that I just received. (sorry for the amateur pictures)
They look much better in real live than in pictures.
I was disappointed of the Lohan coin that it did not has serial number on the coin like Wutai and Putuo coins.

thanks for sharing my friend. I can't imagine the Putuo and Wutai not being a winner. Those are simply just magical medals, no question. The Lohan, well, it just doesn't do it for me. I bought one for kicks to see what it is like. I LOVE the story behind each image, and that may motivate me to buy the whole set...but they need to work on the look of the coin a bit. BUT the Putuo...wow! that is nice...super nice.

barsenault, Me too, I like the story and the philosophy behind the Lohan coin. I could not imagine how an old man could persuaded the young king to give up all his worldly materials ( power, riches, and women... ).
Beware of this Lohan coin. it might convince you to give up your gold and silver.... He he he.

Anyway, Power, Riches and women does give us headache if we do not know how to take care them. So, To remove this headache....give it to me... He he he.

It appears as if the Shenyang Mint itself has packaged the Wutai medal in more than one configuration. These images are close-ups of my second Wutai medal:
