Any recommendations on a quality mechanical watch brand? Preferably reasonably priced... lol

Raymond Weil aren't very highly thought of amongst the WUS guys who prefer their $15k Zeniths and Rolexes, but I wanted one ever since a friendly clerk let me try one on in a jewelery store when I was about 16. The Don Giovanni Cosi Grande they let me try on cost $4,995 and they knew there was no way I could afford it. For some reason they just don't hold their value though and about 18 months ago I picked one up for around $700 from the states when the exchange rate was nice.

I love it, auto chrono with a crystal back and the best AR sapphire I've seen on any watch including Brietlings and Rolexes that cost 5 times as much. If you bargain hunt you can get yourself a very nice swiss watch from them REALLY cheap compared with the RRP, I wouldn't buy new but if you can find one under $1k in good condition I'd highly recommend it.

Also pictured is it's little brother that I picked up a while ago, the dual time zone. Pictures are mine, using a manual focus macro set up. No post processing, they came out the camera that way because I got mad skills.

If you don't like square watches then have a look at their freelancer chrono or Nabucco (bit more expensive even second hand) in one of the special edition colours.

anyone got a speedmaster they are thinking of selling, any type or date, can swap metals or cash

Some serious watch bling

The watchmaker that hand delivers its timepieces around the world

When it comes to offering good customer service, many may argue that luxury watchmaker Gronefeld goes a little over the top.

For whenever someone buys one of its timepieces, it likes to hand it over in person - no matter where the buyer is on the planet.

"When we sell a watch we always try to deliver our creation personally to the customer, regardless of where they are in the in the world," says co-founder Tim Gronefeld, 43.

"We visit them and organise a dinner or small event where we hand over the watch."

You might question how a little-known, family-owned Dutch company can afford such largesse, but as its watches cost as much as 170,000 euros ($188,000; 120,000) it can stretch to the airfares.

This guy has quite the passion for watches!

Love his quote:

"A watch, like all the clocks that surround us, will give you the time, but a timepiece brings you emotion".

Out of town today to find some bargains in some new op shops .
As i think watches (both precious metal versions and steel) are a massively undervalued and may be even ignored market i will be making an effort to find some new ones and with any luck post some new ones tonight.
A nice 18k fob watch would be nice to post, but id even be happy with a few cheap G-shock's.
I did pick up a couple of G-shocks the other day for $4 a piece and i will post them here and you will see straight away (though i did not) why they cost $4

My Tourby Lawless 42. Tourby is a small German company. Picture doesn't do it justice, I don't know if I can go back to non-ceramic bezels. 'scuse the hairy arms eh.

Not sure of the exact process but it is just about as tough as the sapphire glass so it is very very scratch resistant.
