Today I found (while detecting)...

1st outing. Just popped down to the local swings for 10min with the pro-find. Will hopefully christen the detector in the next few days.

This is fun

Well done, first hunt and a couple coins. The thrill of the chase is a lot of the fun. Hoping that next target you dig is gunna be a winner!? That is the passion you need to maintain to get consistent results. Especially when you have days when all you get is crap. :(

What detector have you bought Ned? Your pointy thing does its job by the looks. :)

Might just be me but I rarely find 20c (or 50c) pieces - I think their size means they are harder to lose because dropped ones are spotted so easily.

Now 5c coins - my wife found 5 in probably a single square foot in one park last weekend.

Trust the bloody ice cream truck to turn up just as Dad had found some goldies :(

Drop a handfull of change anywhere and the last ones left are usually the 10s and 5s. Most of the population wont bend over to get 5 or even 10 cents these days. But $2 can be harder to find so always a good chance to snaffle.

$2 coins are an absolute bonus for detectorists due to their littleness. :)

Ended up going with the Minelab X-Terra 705 Dual. When i find enough 10c and 20c pieces i'll look for an upgrade :)

Keep us posted how you go.

Ive been having a read about the new Minelab CTX 3030. Looks pretty tricky but for two and a half grand it would wanna be! Gotta find a friggin heap of shrapnel to pay that one off.

A couple more outings an im raking it in! Up to about $11 so far. I must say it is fun when you get a $1 or $2.
Amazing the amount of 5c i have walked past on the streets over the years yet now when i find them detecting even they make me smile :)

Nice work! So that is the new detector.. .how are you finding it? I only have the 305 - couldn't make the jump to the 705... maybe I should have.. I did want that auto ground balance of the 705.. but yeah oh well. Are you still in brissy?

Tonights outing. Tried the park but was just full or junk and was frustrating as hell as im still learning the signals so headed down the beach. Happy with the 7x$2 coins. Nearly 1/2 oz in silver there!
Skip im down Vic currently on holidays. Im loving this detecting hobby!

^^ Mate, that sunset over the beach was the nicest thing you found. Gotta love that. :)

Not really detecting, but took the kids fossicking and panning out west. Came home with a fist full of sapphires and a few tiny nuggets.
Best part was, the kids absolutely loved every minute of it.

Would've been funnier if they were stuck together. :P

Beach is like a lucky dip, it changes most days. Easy for people to miss or decide not to dig signals. Also the quality of detectorists and their detectors varies geatly. Have found many small nuggs on the side of another persons scratchings before due to shoddy previous efforts. :)

Can you read the marks on the ring? Looks a nice find. :)
