Someone may not like this fact but animals are the most popular....

Someone may not like this fact but animals are the most popular theme on silver collector and bullion coins today I'm convinced.

I've read over the past few months here in this forum a couple of members express how they are tired of an animal (fictional or real) being depicted on a coin or animal theme coins and therefore they claim to look to buy some other coins which have no animal motif or design element. Now of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion but for everyone else who either doesn't mind an animal depicted on a coin or for those who actually seek out certain animals or animal themes, you are in very good company with the rest of the world who seems to not be able to be satiated with animals depicted on their silver coins of choice. What that means to me is that if you are buying in the hopes to some day turn around and sell your silver coins to capture a higher premium due to the collectibility / popularity of the coin, buying coins today with an animal theme is a very smart bet in my view.

Just for a moment, think about the list of popular silver coins or silver coins series today and how many depict animals:

Lunar series coins from any nation

Pandas

Koalas

Kookaburras

Kangaroo

Canadian Wildlife - Bison

Fiji Taku

American Eagle

African Wildlife - Somalia Elephant

Mythical Creatures

etc, etc, etc, etc

From the earliest cave paintings to some of the most spectacular high relief silver coins today (think - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoEi8t3PTto ), animals have remained an extremely popular theme with the vast majority of people....and that won't change.

Look for some good deals on Lunar Snakes as next year's Horses start becoming available from different mints and some dealers want to clear out inventory to make way.

I like animal coins, so im happy there are so many. In fact got my first panda coin today. Looks awesome.

Well I'd rather see animals on coins rather than vegetables
We already have the pickled old battleaxe on one side of most coins :P

Yes personally getting tired of animals, but you are correct, animals on coins sell well and are the biggest sellers. Also positive over negative sells well also.
However as people awaken and pull the wool from their eyes we see a new anti establishment niche market opening up, kudos to the mints prepared to step outside the square.

soooo sick of the animals. how about some playboy centerfolds, or models....or girl's next door...something I'd actually want to look at besides a snake or a stupid panda.

yeah, me too. Some are nice, tough, but have enough of them...

@pdkbffwleo: search for Sex Euro. ;) :D

Thanks! It's shiny...heavy....and there is a stupid deer or cougar on the coin that just takes away from the beauty.

You are talking about Sex Euro or some other coin? I'm really confused. :) There are no animals on 6 (Sex) Euro coins. :)

I just meant, generally, these coins..with the animals. I've got 180 Kook's and 200 Buffalo's and another 50 Maple Leafs (thankfully, not another animal).

There are also Mexican Libertads. Also with "naked" women. :)

Some of the coins sell good because they have the queen on them... everybody loves queen Elizardbeast.

Yeah, sure....and I have a bridge to sell you! :)

And don't get me wrong, there are some neat coin designs that have no animals, but I am just commenting on popularity with the public. The animal coins will have no problem being sold but what am I going to do with my Mars and Beyond 35 Year Anniversary coin? I'll probably have to take that one to the grave. :)

I want them!

Animals are much better than warriors, ships or something that the mints have produced imo. I have nothing against animals.

More T&A on coins needs to happen. Actually... the more I think about it, the better the idea sounds.
Someone get this done.

You realise you're on the internet, right? You're just a search away from more smut that you could possibly handle. Why would you need it plastered on coins?
