Self defence in Australia (LDP)

Ok I see your logic, so I will say water is more dangerous than knives because globally the number of people around the world who die from dirty water far exceeds the number of deaths from knives by far. Africa alone would exceed the number of knife deaths. So knives are more dangerous than guns by your logic fair enough, using the same logic water is more dangerous than knives so therfore water is more dangerous than guns.

Water is more dangerous than guns.

Yep that makes perfect sense using your logic. I see your point.

What the rest of the world does is there problem, but I'm sure knife deaths far outnumber nuclear bomb deaths all over the world
to me that makes knifes more dangerous than nuclear bombs because you are more likely to die by being stabbed than disintegrated.

You are spot on the money :)

I could also make the statement kittens are far more dangerous than lions and provide very logical (using certain peoples logic) reasons for that statement.

Ok knives are more dangerous than guns, water is more dangerous than guns, knives are more dangerous than nuclear weapons and kittens are more dangerous than lions.

How stupid of me to argue with logic like that...... am I in some alternate universe and you are all playing a joke on me?

A lot more people die of knife wounds than gun wounds in Australia has been that way for 20years
...

Yup, that's pretty accurate.

"... knife murders have risen from 30 to 41 per cent over the last decade." (2013)

Younraellybare special lol.

Alright looks like I could take a lesson in mass debating from you blokes.

anyway talk to some ambo drivers and ask them what they think because that's were I was getting it from, and that was 10 yrs ago

Would be happy if I could replace one of my knifes with my 4lb sledgy from 5 mtrs away and you get to load the gun as soon as I start throwing the hammer, lol

When I say this I am not pulling the piss, my brain hurts and I need to go and have a cup of tea and a lay down for awhile

Anyone that owns a kitten get rid of it and buy a lion as they are not as dangerous, why are kittens legal and lions are illegal some people have no common sense or logic. The LDP should be campaining for peoples right to own lions.

Don't worry I am heading to the shed for a can and a cone and a bit of banging my head against a brick wall

Well.

If knives are more deadly than firearms.
If you already know how to handle a knife (through the boy scouts or food preparation).
If you already own many knives (in the kitchen, fishing tackle box, shed etc.)
If you don't need a special license to own a knife.
If you don't need to register your knives.
If you don't need special storage requirements for a knife.
If you don't need to spend money and time practicing with a knife.

Why would anyone want a gun?

Seems to me that it would be less efficient to use a gun to defend yourself from an intruder in your house. Get yourself an knife and increase your stopping capabilities by nearly double!

Unless there is another reason you particularly want a gun.

from top to bottom

Ask me when you run out of bullets
Never been a boy scout, used to stick pigs as a young bloke
Yes
you are not allowed a dagger or a long knife(short sword)
See above
I keep mine in the kitchen draw the tackle box and a couple in sheaths
If you don't practice you could wind up with your own knife stuck up your arse

For trespassers and foxes/bunny's

Yes unless there is more than one

shooting is fun

Precisely.

For those in WA who want to campaign for the right to own lions, or guns or Asian housekeepers with side-benefits, you could join the LDP and see how your ideas go.

Jislizard,
I never thought of it like that, very good points.
Not meaning to be picky and just expanding on the excellent points you raise,

A gun can jam at the most inapropriate times, a knife can not have stoppages therefore a knife is more reliable than a firearm which increases your chances of successfully protecting yourself and your family,
A knife only costs say $10 so you could have more than one knife,
A knife cost basically nothing where as a good quality reliable firearm costs $400 up to over a thousand. The money saved by using a knife means you can spend more on good quality locks for your doors, cameras, a safe room etc.
Knives are easier to train your kids with in regards to safety,
With bullets they go through walls and could cause injury to bystanders for example, that problem is eliminated with knives,
There is no ammuniton with a knife compared to a gun, ammunition is expensive so you therfore save money using a knife.

Useing Yennus's and the other pro freedumb people's logic you are spot on the money. That should make perfect sense to them when you look at it from their point of view.

I agree , except according to you a knife is useless in a gun fight, so if the crims have guns its only fair that the people who feel the need to protect them selves and there property do.

Lets face it 95% of the population would shit themselves first before thinking about what to do, let the 5% as you say do as they see fit

You can already get a gun for shooting foxes/bunnies. You can already get a gun for a shooting club. You just can't get one for shooting people you consider to be a trespasser.

you are not allowed a dagger or a long knife(short sword)
But you are allowed an Assault Chef's knife and they are easily 20cm long, get a Global Bread Knife and you will do some serious damage with the serrated edge. if you start going too long you have trouble swinging them in a confined space, they start getting heavy and the leverage on your wrist increases making it easier to disarm you.

I keep mine in the kitchen draw the tackle box and a couple in sheaths
Good, no fumbling around in a gun safe, remember when seconds count, retrieving a gun from secure storage is minutes away.

If you don't practice you could wind up with your own knife stuck up your arse
Good job that preparing and eating food every day gives you familiarity with handling a knife. Of course if you don't practice with a gun you could wind up with your own gun being used to kill you, so about the same consequences.

shooting is fun
Only I wouldn't say that to a judge after you just shot a trespasser :)

Shooting also makes you feel powerful.

Yes unless there is more than one
The efficiencies are even better with more people. Unless you have a shot gun and are hoping to hit many people in a spread.

Except according to you knives are more deadly than guns, so it would make sense that a crim would have one of the cheap, easy to find, more deadly weapons that are readily available all over Australia. Rather than the harder to find and less deadly guns and a supply of ammunition and places for them to practice.

As the earlier graph shows, gun murders have been dropping steadily for that past few decades so it appears that criminals are either
a) catching on to how awesome knives are and ditching the guns
b) finding it harder to get hold of guns and ammunition
c) something else

Who is responsible for keeping you, your family and your property safe? Is it the police, the locks on your doors, or is it you? As the saying goes, when the seconds count, the police are minutes away.
Australian law prevents you from having the means to defend yourself. That includes things like knives or clubs, and defensive items such as pepper spray. Even wearing a bullet proof vest is illegal.
It shouldn't be that way. The Liberal Democrats believe you have every right to secure your family, your home and your property against criminals.

Everyone just got trolled and is taking the bait.
I don't know why this crap is allowed on the forum

You are right, I took the bait. I am out of this thread,I just need to make sure I do not take the bait again.
