Was wondering if this comes in a *small* silver.. ;)

The big brass looks nice, though. Which mint?

Thanks!

This one issued by China Copper Medal (Da Tong zhang) Association, designed by Beijing brazie Art Communication Co. Ltd.

This is their web site. they have paid membership, and usually sponsors at least 4 Medals each year. Some of their design is just as good, if not better than the State owned ShenYuang Mint or ShangHai Mint, etc.,

Nice medals. Not a big fan of monkeys as well, but I like obverse on the first one.

No mint and the wold compares to what the chinese are producing.

Yes, absolutely! And compared to some "Western" mints prices are much more affordable. :)

I like it! But why did they create this medal? I can't read the Chinese.

It states dog and teddy bear is the most sincere friends in our life, they are the first welcoming you and protecting you.

It try to remind us the childhood memory.

That's really cool because of the 4 I purchased, I plan to give one to a childhood friend...who also happens to love dogs and has a dog who looks nearly identical to the dog depicted in the medal. Then the other 3 medals (one of each variety) will go into my SDB for long term storage.

The sculpt of this medal is executed with mastery. And the relief is among the most impressive I've ever seen (particularly the side with just the doggie close-up).....the obverse? I will post video and pics of the medals as soon as I can get around to it.

What is this thing lower right? Something that got stuck when minting it?? Cool dogs though. The artist almost caught them in center!

I think that thing is an ashtray. Look at it closely....it''s pan shaped just like an ashtray. The thing at the lower right seems perefct for holding a cigarette, cigar, or joint! :)

It's a cool looking ashtray.

Ah yes, you are right. I have almost forgot the concept of ashtray, but maybe smoking is more popular in Asia. Anyway you don't need to smoke to admire it!

Of course, I have already shown my appreciation for the aesthetic beauty of the design in spite of the fact that it appears to be an ashtray.

I have some wonderful looking wine and spirits glass flasks that I have found over the years and have a hard time parting with....in spite of the fact that I don't drink any alcohol beverages whatsoever.
