I guess they caught on to design-changing-each-year-normal-bullion coins becoming expensive years later, and want to get that money without becoming dealers, or reminting
Never been a Britannia fan, but this is definitely going on my do-want list. "Isn't she ravishing, so innocent of heart, so strong in body, so hot in the face" -South Park, "Royal Pudding" episode
Mintages are pretty low. That should be a plus point. 5 oz silver has mintage of 600 only. I think that's the lowest mintage for the 5 oz coins released todate, by the Royal mint.
yes they cut down the mintage for 2014 release. I got a feeling the 2014 Britannia proof will sell out quite soon, and I sure hope Royal Mint will not suddenly increase the mintage! 2013 1oz silver Britannia proof: 8,500 total mintage (including 1oz denomination from sets) 2014 1oz silver Britannia proof: 4,800 total mintage (also including sets) 2013 5oz silver Britannia proof: 1,150 2014 5oz silver Britannia proof: 600
I can't push 400 for a coin in a month whilst paying for a wedding... These will all be sold out in 8 weeks time when I can scramble the cash together >.< I'll be keeping watch.
Quite the opposite, 1oz silver proof remained same price 5oz silver proof, 2013 release price was GBP375, 2014 is GBP330 Gold 3-coins set, 2013 was GBP1,275 but 2014 is GBP1,175
I've pre ordered the 6 coin set. I have a few 1oz proof Britannia's but this is the 1st time I've bought directly from the mint as this coin/set is a stunner.
see, i disagree. That what she wants you to think. I reckon under the robe is a body-suited Lara-Croft-like Britannia. Dis her at your peril
Very nice but at that price I will just buy a silver generic round and download a picture of Pippa to stick over it. It might not go up in value but every year I can just change the picture of Pippa.
