Had an interesting conversation and purchase today - just proved to me how you can't win with some people no matter what!

Guy - "I've got this box of coins that I want to sell - I want $20 for it".

Me - "OK - give me a sec and I'll be right with you"

Guy - "I'm in a hurry - have a quick look now and pay me the $20 and I'll get out of here".

Me - "Be right with you"

Guy - Sighs very loudly and rudely

Guy - about 20 seconds later - "Can you hurry up".

Me - "OK - I'll come now" - I had to politely excuse myself from another customer, fortunately a regular who was happy to hang around a bit longer.

Me - Opening the box - "I'll just have a look inside and then I should be able to work something out for you".

Guy - "I want $20 for it - or I'm straight outta here"

I'm opening the box and can see a 1oz Kook on top in a Downies card - can't see the year.

Me - "I can't give you $20 for this......"

Guy interupts me before I can say that it's worth much more than $20.

Guy - "$20 or I'm gone"

Me - "But it's...." I'm trying again to tell him it's worth more than that.

Guy - "Mate - don't F..K me around - I know what it's worth"

Me trying for a third time - "Can I offer you....."

Guy - "Mate - either F...King pay me the 20 bucks or get F...Cked".

Me - "OK"

I gave him the $20 and he left with a big smile on his face - I'm sure he thought he'd just done the deal of the century.

When I opened the box it had a few $1 RAM special edition coins in cards and some other odds and sods plus:

2007 1/2oz Pig
2008 1/2oz Mouse
2002 1oz Kookaburra
2005 1oz Kookaburra
2009 1oz Kookaburra
1938 Florin from the 1998 Masterpieces in Silver set.

You just can't help some people no matter how hard you try!

sounds like they might have been stolen if he was in such a hurry to get rid of the box for just $20
 
I did wonder if it had been stolen. I talked to a mate of mine who's a local copper in case anyone reported it stolen.

Not sure I can do anything else. Anyone here want to let me know if it was stolen from them?

Search Google for Silver price.

Bang it's right there.

Total of 10 seconds.

The dumb scumbag got what he deserved!
 
You gonna share the love mate and offer us a good price on those coins? :D

Hell, you could sell them at spot (worst case) and still turn a tidy profit!

You did the right thing about talking to a copper about it.

$20 is small change really, if it gets someone their stolen stash back they'd probably be happy to give you that as a reward.

Making assumptions here of course.

Could have been a revenge sale... "I sold your coins for rent owed!"
