I've had about 60 odd watches pass through my hands since about 2010. I like tool/field/pilot/dive watches, and have never spent more that 2.3k on a watch. I rarely dress up, don't work in an office, and am most found outdoors, so dress watches are not for me. :)
This is my current crop, and the 1981 Seiko quartz diver 7548-7000 (on left) is probably my favourite at the minute. Although they all get rotated on a weekly basis. I hate chronograph watches, and love nothing more than an appealing simple dial layout.

Hi Mat,
Can you please send me the details of your Rolex?

Cheers

Can anyone recommend a reputable place in Australia to handle selling a vintage Submariner? I wouldn't have a clue how to price a watch like that.

I guess dealer prices will always be high as they have to add GST on their commission and being a store there would be a higher trust level with buyers.

I can help mate I have a database of buyers and watchmakers that can authenticate things. If I'm correct in you have one you want to sell?

Thanks for the reply, I have had a 5513 that I got new in 1983, I don't wear it so much now. It runs fine and has never been opened or serviced. I haven't put it under water in 20 years, I used to dive with it but since then I treat it as a non-waterproof watch as I don't know how often the seals should be replaced. It's been sitting in a deposit box for the last 14 months.

Will take $4500 each one of the PAMs if any interest.

Any recommendations on a quality mechanical watch brand? Preferably reasonably priced... lol

If you're looking for a quality mechanical watch without breaking the bank, there are some great options out there! Brands like Seiko and Orient offer fantastic value for money. Seiko’s 5 Series and Orient’s Bambino are well-regarded for their reliability and classic designs, all while staying reasonably priced.

Another brand to check out is Hamilton—a bit more expensive but worth considering for their Swiss-made quality. If you're after something a little unique, Tissot also has some nice offerings in the affordable range. All of these brands provide good mechanical movements without the hefty price tag.

What style are you leaning towards? Dress, dive, or everyday wear?
