Tracking the 2012 1oz Silver Dragon Secondary Market

Ok, testing the market - I put my personal three coin set up for $1850 BIN.

Technically the buyer is helping out the FNQ economy because I need to pay my credit card after the holiday

I am sorry to say this but anyone who is prepared to pay more for the 1oz Dragon than a 2oz Dragon has soup for brains.
99% of you guys won't be starting a lunar set so why don't you just get twice the silver for the same price or less; I am sure in the long run a 2oz Dragon will give you a better return.
1oz Dragon at present has $40 of silver and $50-$60 worth of collector's premium
2oz Dragon at present has $80 of silver and $15 worth of collector's premium
When spot doubles, a 1oz Dragon will have $80 of silver and maybe up to $80 in its collector's premium. Whereas the 2oz Dragon will have $160 worth of silver as well as a collector's premium which will definitely be higher than $15

makes a lot of sense !!

my 1oz sold for 499 BIN over night...i undersold by about 100 i rekon...

Yeah I think you will see some action on the 3 coin set near the end of your auction unless it's others trying to get an indication on sale price. 499 not bad prob could have done a bit better but couldn't really complain with those levels of profit.

I've been tracking the sales of Dragons since we got back from Perth
Here are the results

First auctioned slabbed UNC ms70 $330 - 280737119552

A proof auction that did sell 150661871241

another auction, but I call BS on the price of $360 for an UNC unslabbed ,maybe if the seller is here they can tell us :)

so is it worth flying to the states with 100 (buy price $40ea) dragons getting them slabbed and selling on ebay? profit would be approx $8000 minus grading and slabbing costs, airfares/expenses
or would one be best selling the lot on silver stackers for $80ea?
would probably work out similar, except a free trip to the states I guess

You don't need to fly oversees and pay for expensive hotels etc. Just send me the coins and I'll take care of everything for you :) Just give me one 1 oz dragon for my troubles...

Forgive my ignorance but why is the american market prepared to pay so much more for slabbed coins? I gathered for whatever reason they like MS70 coins but hiho's post implies even an average grading adds considerable value in the US.

Is this limited to lunars or in general?

My old man and lil bro live in the states atm. Hes holding some eagles for me as it was cheap to have them shipped to him (that and i cant let my flesh and blood not have access to silver if shtf). Reckon its worth me having him get my existing coins slabbed and see what kind of prices i can get?

That ebay seller above

3 feedback

He / She has another listing for 20 @ $52ea 120776705961

I pm'd and offered cash on pickup - he / she declined

Reaks of scam

Update:

Surprise Surprise - seller is no longer a registered user

Well just sold the last of my dragons. Initially bought a roll of 20 1oz bullion, 1 oz proof and 3 coin proof. And now have 37 oz of silver + $1700 and kept 1 bullion coin for myself. Not bad for an initial investment of 1400

1oz Proof dragon just sold on ebay for $350 - item: 290612363289

just a one off or is the party over ?
