Stroking your Kookaburra

I just could not help myself, I opened one of my Kookaburra 2014 1oz silver coins and touched the face... :|
I know it`s only a bullion coin, but does the coin condition play a role in the value?

Do you guys ever handle your coins or do you buy them and put them away?
 
Resign it to the fondle pile - no-one is going to pay a premium for a coin with a mintage of 500,000 that's been opened and touched.
 
Never touch your coins. Keep them locked up in an airtight container with lots of desiccants.

If you want to fondle silver, get yourself some handpoured bars!
 
Well your $28.85 kook is now worth about $21.57 but you need a handling piece, I got a year of the snake as mine and the mrs has a 2012 panda
 
I have a Kook, Koala, Maple, Philharmonic, an ASE and a Kruger Rand that I carry around with me in my pocket, normally just one of them, sometimes two. I let them rub against each other, against loose change and I find myself fondling them a fair bit.

I have given a Kook to both my son and daughter specifically to touch and fondle too.

So to answer your question, yes, select a coin or two that you are happy to get scratched and worn, that you will never sell.

Touch, feel, rub and enjoy them ...

I'm glad don't see you walking around town with your hands in your pockets. I might think you are playing pocket billiards. :)

I don't have any naked 999 silver 'fondle' coins, these are all capsuled and the only one's touched w bare skin are crowns etc.
 
This is a strange topic fondle stroke haha i thought i was mental to keep a 2 oz dragon in reach to look at it an enjoy but u guys are totally committed :)

Just out of curiosity, where do you usually walk... :)

I am not sure that the one I touched is totally worthless. Some of the premium value is surely in the recognizable size, government backed mint etc. Look at the premium on the 1966 50c coins, and those are mostly coins that has been in circulation.

I taken your advise. I have taken that one out and is now my fondle coin. Must say, much better play thing than a guitar pick!
 
Good, enjoy it.

Don't get too hung up about the value of that coin. It's worth about the same as 2 beers down at the pub, the ones still in capsules about 3 beers.

Carrying one around with you eventually has you valuing everything in ounces, could change your spending habits for the better. Has changed mine.

your prints on coins may not be worth it :o
 
In a nutshell, its gone from being a semi-numi to a low premium coin- same as any other low premium, (spot+$2) thereabouts. how many minutes you have to work to earn the $5 difference?
If it makes you happy for longer than this its worth it

Just remember, if MJ handled coins, there would be no prints, he would have been wearing gloves :)

How often do you pick up kooks for $2 over spot, even with fingerprints ?

Point I was making was that the max your going to lose by putting fingerprints on a current year kook is about $5
As long as you don't go doing this to every coin you own, and it makes you happy, its not that big a deal.

The reason it's rare is because 99.9% stay in their capsules
