Your not scared of 'SHTF' you are afraid of your own personal apocalypse (for possibly good reasons) and buying stuff won't fix that. Shite happens...deal with it.
Even if there was a 'catastrophic solar flare' human society does not collapse. Even when artillery is incoming it does not collapse but to justify the fantasy...even if there was a 'civil war' (in Australia!!!!!?????????) you would stay for the party just to justify buying a load of toys. It is all about fear you will cook up reasons to stoke that emotion even when there is no sane probability for these bizarre nightmares.
What sickens me is the cowardice and fear and immorality actually fantasising of opening up on possibly lost or desperate people. If you think like this and own a gun - just do the world a favour and sell it now. You failed the psychological test already.
Above all the fear and the stupidity of thinking guns are some magic wand. Invitation to trouble is what they are in that context in the hands of a civvie. Next is the waffle about how you are some amateur super sniper or Rambo is it?
So even given the choice of a plane ticket and a few years abroad this twisted shtf mentality tries to invent some science fiction implausibility to cook up this BS and justify what in reality would be a bitter and short lesson in the utter randomness of death in armed conflict if 'your nightmare to enjoy being afraid' hits reality . Sitting on a pile of junk in the middle of no where terrified and slowly starving to death...strap that on as the ending.
Mindless and if you are buying PMs for some post apocalyptic fantasy in my opinion you are wasting your money. This junk brings down the reputation of PM investors to loony tunes. There are good reasons to buy or hold PMs - this stuff is not a reason - it is a mental disorder.

If shtf never happens, then the property I bought has not been a waste because I thoroughly enjoy going there for long weekends. It's also not a waste of money because the value of the property has doubled since I bought it 8 years ago. It's a win win all round is how I see it.

No longer do we have large oil fields (eg. Bass Straight) nor do we have refineries to process the oil.
Most of our petrol/diesel comes from Singapore.
Can ever imagine a situation in Australia, if petrol rationing was the order of the day.
Our major supermarkets would be out of food in a week.
The amount of debt held by many countries including the USA IS STAGGERING. A financial collapse IMO is on the cards in the near future. What this will entail, I do not know but if history is any guide then the government will not want hordes of men and angry women protesting in the streets. In 1930, to obtain food men had to walk 30miles a week to get their food ration.
The debt situation in the US is worse today than in 1930. $18,000,000,000,000 on the debt clock.
Derivatives ARE IN THE $quadrillions... The casino is still operating. For how long? That is the ?????

Civilian firearm handling whether for target shooting or for occupation is nothing to do with shooting people. If necessary that is for either armed police or the military. That is what they are trained for. You are not.
I honestly ask you to reconsider holding a firearm given your thoughts on firing warning shots at unknown strangers in any context, if you are thinking this out loud you are honestly not safe to own a gun.
To give one simple example - if manning a checkpoint and a civilian was to attempt to take our weapon after reasoned verbal discouragement I was instructed to very quickly reverse the weapon and deliver a rapid blow to the culprits face with the rifle stock. Not blow their head off. Please consider selling your firearm until a later point in your life when you can look back at what you write and shudder at how crazy you were, it sounds like you are in a mental position where it could just make your life far worse and actually be more of a danger to you than anything else. You have neither the training or experience to deploy it effectively in a defensive capacity. If you kill someone there is no rewind button.
Do you like animals?...have you ever considered getting a dog? have you ever owned one?

That's fair enough. Nothing good about people on prescription medication for depression running around with firearms though, or for instance in treatment for opiate addiction.
It would be good if small bore shooting could actually be a sport again.
It may be that Skyrocket may actually get a lot out of owning a dog if he is up to caring for it and do believe he is not currently safe to own a gun based on what he wrote. He can take that or leave it. It would be in his best interest to at least seriously think about it.
