For a SHTF scenario having a remote country acreage would make you, and your family, a sitting target when people get hungry. If you want to see how ugly things get in a short period just look at recent natural disasters. Looting, rape, murder, ... all follow very quickly.
A remote acreage will only delay the inevitable unless you have considerable means to defend it.
You fight to protect what you got. Much better then being in suburbia with all the desperados and marauders passing just meters from your house. Also, in a SHTF scenario fuel will quickly dry up so people on a remote acreage will have far less of this problem.

Ask a Cypriot. As to a belief in zombies, you have answered your own question.
Sammy what you said there makes no sense. (Cyprus). Having a small armoury and a well prepared fruit garden, a selection of camo and water filters? What is that supposed to do for you?
I don't see what all the buying stuff is meant to solve. There are good reasons for some to own PMs this apocalypse shite is not one of those reasons.
Why not leave if things are so bad that you are living in a collapsed society shitting in a hole?

No, you are reading too much into this. Cypriot relatives lost half their savings and pensions in the bail-ins two years ago. That is SHTF. Zombies are a nonsense. Other than keeping wealth outside of the banking system, the ancillary precautions are a horse for course decision.

The thing is - it is a fantasy you have - all this shtf nonsense is, it is your cage of fear you have chosen to put yourself in because of your own psychology.....

It's also a fantasy to think everything will always be just rosy dandy and sh*t will/could never happen here.
Some/many people like the idea of having a remote property to flee to just in case shtf ever happens one day. Get over it and stop making out like these people are (fear) wacko's.
If shtf never happens, then the property I bought has not been a waste because I thoroughly enjoy going there for long weekends. It's also not a waste of money because the value of the property has doubled since I bought it 8 years ago. It's a win win all round is how I see it.

No idea, don't recall mentioning it, you tell me.
Oldsoul said:The whole Rambo prepper, doomer thing is just for people who want to play soldier/guerrilla or small farmer/dark ages pesant without having the reality or nasty bits of either profession and that is fine as long as they know deep down it is a fantasy and a hobby while they buy pointless toys. If they own firearms and start believing in it while speculating on firing shots at wandering strangers it is just disturbing. It makes gun owners look bad and mad and now it seems PM buyers as well.
Guns and people who can't tell fantasy from reality are a bad mix.

I like how you put every type of prepper in the same basket. They are all wacko Rambo types if they got a gun. You also put farmers, self sufficient lifestylers, ect, in that same basket too? Most of them have all got guns.
Are you also directing that comment to all the people carrying guns for self protection on streets of your beloved US? They got a real gun problem and crackpots there. That's where gun owners look bad, not here.
This i agree with you 100%.Oldsoul said:Kids should have a mandatory week in secondary school being taught marksmanship on air rifles so that guns are less of a fantasy to them and they have some safety training.
Oldsoul said:I honestly ask you to reconsider holding a firearm given your thoughts on firing warning shots at unknown strangers in any context, if you are thinking this out loud you are honestly not safe to own a gun.

I left out the rest of your text as i do not happen to agree with you on those issues and it was getting a bit on the personal side with regard to Skyrocket.
If it was not for your political points of view and my almost ALWAYS opposite political views id say we would get on quite well.
So i have decided to only engage in topics with you that are not political and that way "hopefully" neither of us will get to grumpy with the other![]()

When I said that I was talking hypothetically about what I would do in a SHTF scenario (with no law) if I saw a stranger on my property when I got "trespassers will be shot" signs everywhere. You keep bringing this up as though I would do this outside of a SHTF scenario. I'm not a nutcase/wacko, so stop trying to make out like I am.
