Ok I only read page 1 of this post and no Americans chimed in.

First off silver or gold is worthless if you cannot sell it during a SHTF scenario. You need to unload it prior to this type of scenario. Really who is going to buy it or who is even going to think barter with precious metals when basic necessities and personal safety is in play. Its food for food , water for water etc.

Secondly. When we had Hurricane Sandy hit here years back and NY, NJ and other east coastal areas were effected I saw things that really concerned me about people in general. We had people fist fighting over a cut in line at gas stations that got electric back first, one person took a bat to another when one place offered ice to people first come first serve basis and police were protecting gas stations and stores instead of patroling.

And our Government help still has not bailed those whose homes were destroyed by Sandy.
All of this was an 8 day event and was only a small portion of the USA.

Just imagine a worldwide financial collapse. Oh wait anyone remember Greece when banks failed and those hard working peoples pensions and life savings were gone, they rioted. IMO Europe was spared as a whole because of the IMF lending loans to Spain and others.

And I'm sorry but I disagree that some of you said it would take a while for people in Canada and Australia to reach a point of choas, because when a person's self preservation is threatened people change and change quick it will. Read above.

For a SHTF scenario I think it is better to have a remote country acreage somewhere to escape to with your food stocks and hideout there.

... Better to buy a remote large country acreage, stock up with food, supplies, then stack PM's last.

In a SHTF scenario I doubt very much it would be safer living in suburbia then on a large remote country acreage. When hunger starts to set in it would be absolute kaos in suburbia. Desperados and marauders everywhere. Police/military would be vastly outnumbered and little use. There is little to no law in SHTF scenario. And theres much more guns % to people in the country then suburbia. People will think twice before attempting to rob country properties/people in SHTF scenario. If SHTF came here why would people in Australia want to leave the country if this place is blessed with vast amounts of land? It is not heavily overpopulated like MOST other countries in world. When SHTF hit in countries like Syria, Iraq, ect people there felt they could only leave their country for safety but that is not necessary here.
