Realistically, how much silver are you aiming for?

Hi guys,

I have some figures running through my head and really cant come up with an ideal amount based on either SHTF or retirement purposes.

I am going to keep stacking on a weekly basis bit by bit, but what do you think a good amount to aim for is? 100 oz, 1000 oz or more?

I am not asking for crystal ball predictions just opinions on what would make you feel comfortable. I hear some of the figures coming out that people have on here and I think WOW I am never going to have that much lol :)

What do you think?

Kel

All of it ,I aim to poses all the gold/silver I can
If I had 1000oz ,that wouldn't be enough I'd want more like 10,000's
If I had 10,000's I'd want 100,000oz's
Me gready
Never

So, what amount would make you feel secure though?

1000oz would make me feel secure :P

Start small, aim big that's what I plan to do/have been doing anyway.

Set milestones for yourself, 10oz then 50oz then 100oz then 500 then 1000 etc

Pat yourself on the back each time you reach a milestone ;)

It's all mine ,all the silver/gold in the world is mine
People have been stealing it of me for years

Short term I'm aiming for 200oz silver and equivalent value gold. I'm a looong way of that yet but that's my short term goal. If things go nuts after that then so be it but long term would be around the 1000oz mark.

fishball - I am aiming for my first 100 oz ... not long to go now.

I am thinking 1000oz will be good :)

Spanner - Pretty sure youre fighting an uphill battle :)

How's this for a simple formula.

Silver is approx $40 per ounce with premiums thrown in.

GSR is about 40.

Let's say living expenses are $800 per week. About 1/2oz gold or 20oz silver.

At 50 weeks a year, at today's prices you need 25oz gold or 1,000oz silver per year to live on.

If gold stays the same and the GSR drops to 20, you only need 500oz per year to live on.

If TSHTF and silver shoots to $200 per ounce you only need 200oz a year to live on.

I've only got 20 good years left in me so I need 20,000oz at today's prices. So that is my target.

If GSR drops, well and good. I just hope that TS doesn't HTF too soon as I'm far from ready.

My aim is to hit 1000 oz by end of next year, i like fishballs idea of setting goals and celebrating them

Get to 1000oz anyway you can...till your gums are bleeding and your fingernails have splintered. Then assess your situation from there!

20000 oz sounds so unattainable atm. 1000 oz sounds do able, but would take me a long time with the small amounts I buy ( 1 or 2 oz per week).

I spose 1000 oz is better than nothing tho :)

I trust you meant you're saving up THE EQUIVALENT of 1-2 oz per week, then doing a 'bulk buy', otherwise shipping must be killing you!

1-2oz a week is nothing to be sneezed at in this market!

I fell into a trap of buying a lot very quickly and not thinking about my purchases, sometimes the collector in me bought a small coin here and there.

I try to buy in batches of oz's now, say 10oz to a tube of coins as the shipping just rips into the costs for smaller amounts of coins. F2F eliminates that but only if you have some fellow SS around.

Yea shipping sux. I am buying 1 or 2 oz per week not buying in bulk. I think I should put it away and start buying in bulk more.
I am actually expecting my first 10 oz this week (thank Ossie) ... Yayyy!!

Aim was 1500/oz

Got a few hundred to go. The more expensive it gets, the less we will all be able to buy.

The last few hundred is going to take sometime to gather.

But like all humans, we will ALWAYS want more.

Been doing this for a few years now and I think the best sized nest egg is anywhere between 1500 and 3000 oz as a personal stash.

Superanuation............. well the skies the limit there.

I'd like at least a thousand oz. But its gonna take a few years. I buy every chance I get and I've been stacking for about 8 months but I'm nowhere near the number I'm shooting for. I'd probably have a fair bit more but lately I've been putting more money into gold than silver.
Junk silver is a good way to grow your stack you can buy a little bit or a lot and the premiums are low. As someone said earlier set goals along the way that way you stay motivated.
