Perth Mint - THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE [Hera packaging disaster]

...Members that are faced with this dilemma should contact the Perth Mint Public Relations and or their Marketing Department and request that the Mint replace the damaged contents .

I have always found that the Mint will respond to complaints and concerns in a positive way.
I tried contacting them by email on Friday but got not response. I'll try again by email and phone next week. I also tried commenting on their blog, but as you saw earlier, could not get a comment accepted.

Thanks for bringing attention to this SilverPete. I've passed this information to our QC department and have been assured that each of the coins we receive will be inspected prior to being sent out to customers :)

Kind regards,

Renee

Do you have a guess on when they will start shipping Renee?
Thanks

Hi Elkslayer132,

We're expecting to have stock from Perth by the end of this week or early next, so accommodating for QC they should be getting shipped to customers mid-late next week :)

I'll post an update in this thread if there are any changes

Kind regards,

Renee

One reason I heard for not using a capsule is that the high-relief surface would rub against the capsule and damage the coin. However, I'm sure there's more potential for coin damage by have it rattle and bang around inside the box during shipping.
Sounds like a bunch of nonsense from Perth. I wonder what rubbing against a capsule doesn't seem to be a problem for the Tiffany coin series.

My guess it that since they didn't expect this series to be as popular as it has become, they didn't think it would be worth investing in a new capsule size, which would have required a new injection mold and would not have been worth while if the Zeus coin had been a 1 off.

This is how the new Hera, Goddess of Olympus coin arrived today straight from the Perth Mint. As soon as I received the package I knew something was not good when I heard the rattling.

First pics on immediately opening the box:

How is this in any way acceptable?

.

Mine arrived like this too. The finish on her cheek was worn off due to the rattling. She has a shining spot on her face and in places where the relief was higher...

Got my first one today all was good i think this is the best coin of the series. It came from Perth mint next one will be from Direct coins hope it comes the same way.

Will those with an immaculate piece of paper gain a premium over those with a damaged or missing one?

Apparently looks like a poorly-designed case, with no thought to the paper placement.

I know it's not always possible, but just one more reason to try to stay away from packaged items.

A simple custom acrylic capsule would have sufficed, IMO.

Yeah. I'm avoiding medals like the plague. No thx. lol
