Panda Photos

That wooden box i bought from the same seller Pinnacel coin on ebay.
Here's the link.

This wooden box is made by Lighthouse & the seller sells them for US $69.85 + US $35.95 for shipping worldwide. The seller still have 6 left. I like this box.

This seller also sells "2 - BRAND NEW OFFICIAL NGC CERTIFIED COIN SLAB STORAGE BOXES".
Ebay lot # 110840452756
But i don't really like it, looks cheap to me.

These "Official" NGC storage boxes this seller is selling for $25 can be found for about $10 at many coin supply sites.

Yes they are alot cheaper than the homemade wooden boxes but honestly 20 slabbed coins in one box is heavy enough, especially once you start getting multiple boxes. I use the standard NGC boxes and they stack nicely into bank safey boxes so they make for easy storage and several can fit into one safety box.

The wooden boxes are very nice looking though :)

ngc sells direct also ...just call and ask for the order form via e mail if i remember correctly they are 7.00 each but shipping is pretty high

Received my NGC MS 70 2011 & 2012 today, thanks to Fishball for placing the bulk order.

Pics to follow soon :)

Let's Talk About Commemoratives

A lot of collectors do not care much for the commemoratives but I have always been a moderate collector of these coins and pick them up at any chance that I get when I come across one a good price.

As some of the SS members stated in 2011 it seemed the mint was cranking out a new commemorative for almost any random event but some of these may never actually meet "planned mintage" numbers and could easily be the next Xi'an City Bank, Beijing Banknote or CITIC Bank.

Peter Anthony had an excellent commentary on commemoratives in one of the last Pricepedia's regarding "planned mintage" and "actual mintage" and a possible reasoning why some commemoratives sell for very high premiums which I found interesting.

Although I have always liked commemoratives the recent 2000 Guangzhou Panda purchase from yennus "kick started" me into a little more interest in the Gilt Pandas so I picked a few up in the last week or so here are a few of these along with some other commemoratives that were in OMP stored in bank box. (some of the pics are bad as I wiped the slabs down with towel leaving some lint of a few of them) :)

Very nice comeaux. I think the conmemoratives have a lot of space to go high. Mintages less than 30.000/20.000
Nice designs. Gilded some

I love the Beijing ones, Just got my 2004 and love it, as much as I should continue on my "normal" pandas I've got the taste now

Pfffoooooar!!! Far out!!! A 4 letter word came to mind when I saw those....

Let me translate "...so I picked a few up in the last week or so..."

Comeaux really means to say "So I went and bought every commemorative bear I could get my Panda paws on!" ahhaha :)

Nice work Comeaux!

Admirable collection! :)

The Comeaux Collection still in the lead :)

That's a superb collection you have there Comeaux.. the 2011 60th Aviation and Beijing-Shanghai rail coins are on my hit list, mainly because of the boxes. (If I've correctly identified those in your pics)

Yep, those are the boxes for the 2011 60th Aviation and Beijing-Shanghai Rail coins... nice commemoratives to own :)

Only one word to describe it ... WOW ... Amazing, beautiful collection; actually, that's already more than one word : )

Amazing collection Comeaux ...
Quick take a photo of the 200 nail-polish bottles to get my mind off those glided pandas..:)
