O.k and when is MSM going to talk about this happening? So far I have heard NOTHING?

The first post has a link to Sydney Morning Herald. Is that main-stream enough?

When I talk about MSM I mean the television and the 6 o'clock news.....Not everyone has time to surf the net all day searching for the latest news......MOST people are at work struggling to make a living.
Oh here we go, you've worked for what 3 days out of the last how long now?

Actually worked 2.5 days last week, had a motorcycle accident Wednesday night, spent weds night in hospital and had Thursday off, then HSV had two rdos in a row, one Friday and one today, back at work tmrw morning. HSV is a funny place to work I can tell you, they have 60 casual workers on site all on $22 per hour!

That's so that when business turns to s**t they can just roster everyone off instead of paying them redundancies.

Easier to deal with problem workers too.

Yes i'm starting to realise all the benefits of 'casual' employment for the employers...... The work I do is quite easy but most of the other guys work quite hard all day for the same $22 per hour rate.... I believe they should get pay more for the amount of work they do...... Thers a fair bit of pressure to get cars done and out of the production line as quick as possible so the customers can get what they have paid for as soon as possible...... The work I do is mostly using air tools so its pretty easy, I would assume I will be trained on the 'advanced' areas after a few months if I even last that long?

It normally takes me about two years and no salary reviews to start bitching.

Wow another thread gone completely off topic

US govt is about to shut down and potential for default on bonds is rising...

... so of course everybody is flooding into bonds pushing the yield down...

makes perfect sense

in the bizzarro world we now live in

Cant you get insurance against bonds being defaulted ? I dont know anything about the bond market or finances etc I think the term is a Credit Default Swap but im not sure

Yes Volrathy...but I very much doubt that the counterparty will have enough capital to pay out in the event of a default.....and due to the fact that the counterparties of the swaps are invested in the same toxic shit....you would see a domino effect of bankruptcies in same major institutions.....scary stuff.

good

this is worse than stockmarket crashes...
This is the penultimate wipeout....
These institutions are the very same ones that world trade depends upon
No oil will flow out of the middle east if the banks that deal with notes of credit are insolvent. Then we will truly witness how dependant upon fossil fuels we are. No rice, wheat, potatoes, corn, etc, etc.
In fact world trade would grind to a very quick halt...
This is the 'Mad Max' scenario if world governments do not organise themselves immediately.
Yes, I know gold would probably skyrocket but you are talking about a breakdown in society unseen for a long, long time. I would prefer to have potatoes than gold in this instance.
Too scary to contemplate and certainly not something a man with a young family would ever wish to happen.

If the US Govt. shuts down.. shouldn't that also mean our old mate Bernnanke will have to cease his stimulus too? :P

Federal reserve is an independent organisation owned by banks it is simply governed by laws not controlled by the government
