1for1 covers this quite well, the $10 is not Australian Dollar so you are effectively paying $10 for around 0.16oz silver.

My dad also received a catalogue from M Mint and he fell into the trap of feeling like winning a jackpot....I explained to him that this coin does not worth as much as he thinks and our entire family somehow is so against him spending this "$10".
Just finding it funny about why we have such big reaction and so against him spending this "$10" bucks, I bought craps with $10 too and actually, he doesn't need our approval anyway...=D
