Less popular silver bullion coins worth having

Hi everyone,

I was recently wondering what other silver bullion coins beside those most popular are worth having. I'm asking for your opinion, because some users of my SilverBug app (<- link to the post on this forum) have asked me to include some more coins. I currently list the 10 most popular ones:
- American Silver Eagle
- Canadian Maple Leaf
- Mexican Libertad
- Australian Kookaburra
- Australian Koala
- Australian Lunar II
- Austrian Philharmonic
- Canadian Wildlife Series
- Chinese Panda
- Silver Britannia

The question is: what other silver coins are popular enough among silver stackers to warrant inclusion?

I've heard of Silver Taku Fiji, Somalia Elephants. The first Lunar series from Perth Mint would probably fit there perfectly with others. Any other ideas?

Hi, these are great proof issues, but not bullion so proberbly would not warrent inclusion into the above list.

I understand they are rounds not coins but buffalos? Low premium and a handy size in 1 oz and affordable to the masses
 
Silver is silver is silver

As long as it's easily identifiable and verifiable, go for the cheapest option on offer

If you can get coinage at a small premium, it's worth going for but don't get silly
 
I know they are not coins, but how about Pamp Suisse Lady Fortuna Bars. They could be a good addition to the Silver Bug app.

Ok, so far we have:
- Fiji Taku
- Somali wildlife/elephants
- Silver Fern (round bar?)
- New Zealand Kiwi
- Buffalo rounds

I'm familiar with the first two, the prices are usually good. Not sure about Silver Fern, never saw them around my area. Are they even coins? Found some info on NZ mint website, they don't seem to have denomination on them. As for Kiwi, I saw some of them selling here from time to time, but the premium is usually pretty high. Are they one of those high premium, limited mintage coins?

As for silver rounds, this is uncharted territory for me. I did some googling for buffalos, but it seems to me that more then one manufacturer uses this design. Who's making them? Are there any other rounds that are popular outside their local markets?

The Tuvalu redbacks, etc. look to me like typical "collectibles", definietely not for investing purposes.

Any other ideas are appreciated.
 
Everything that the OP noted is government issued. There is some very good and well known non-government stuff out there. I particularly like Englehard bars and their Prospectors. A couple of examples of non-government but very recognizable silver below:

Absolutely!!

One needs to be patient though, to avoid paying the high premiums for which these coins are renowned ;)

The fact that they maintain their premiums in the secondary market is indicative of their ongoing popularity..

my ultimate supplier, when the rest of dealers stop selling or having "out of stock" sign,

First Majestic gave a discounted sale price :) best price that I ever bought that time, at $19.20 usd, the moment after that, Silver launch all the way to $49 usd.

Thank you for pointing me to that thread, very informative. I wonder what other treasures lie buried in the depths of this forum. Maybe I should spend some quality time with the search function :D

Thanks for the photos. I even found the Prospectors selling up here, and for a very decent price. Definitely worth looking into.

Why not? They're nice and only slightly more expensive than Kookaburra but cheaper than Panda, Taku or Canadian Wildlife.

Thanks again for all of your suggestions. I split all of them them in three groups

Bullion coins that are recognized pretty well in many regions and around the world:
- First Lunar from Perth
- Australian Kangaroo
- Fiji Taku - I actually have one of those
- Somali wildlife/elephants - looks like it gains more popularity, I see those coins poping up in different places recently
- Andorra Eagle - looks like niche stuff, but I managed to find it selling here as well - but the price is silly
- New Zealand Kiwi - looks more like a "collectible", low mintage and high premiums (at least around here)

Niche bullion coins (might not be recognizable all that well):
- Cook Islands "Bounty" Tall Ship - saw this one selling here as well in one place
- Kazakhstan Snow Leopard
- Russian St George the Victorious
- Malawi "Krugerrand"
- Rwanda Zebra

Silver rounds:
- Silver Fern
- American Prospector
- Buffalo
- First Majestic

Assuming you refer to the 1999 proof $1 coin - it's beautiful and I've gathered a few in boxes with COAs.
Bought at near spot price so a bargain I think
