Saw this in the weekend paper and figured it was joke-worthy.
I feel bad for anyone that would get suckered in though
I went along to one to see what it was like.
About 3-4 tables in the front of a large Hall in the RSL. Spread out for a bit of privacy so you couldn't overhear what was being said at each table.
Spaced out seating in front of the tables so you couldn't really chat with anyone sitting next to you and far back enough from the tables so you couldn't hear any of the offers or what people had.
I only watched for about five minutes but the place was mostly empty and I didn't see many people handing over items to the buyers. Not great value for sure but really convenient, especially for the old folks who were the only people in the room. I guess they wouldn't go to the effort of finding a dealer in the city but would happily take a few odd items to the local RSL or whatever.
