Ive been in a liberty bull market since the 70s. This is the thing you guys dont understand the generation before me in the 60's were the first to want mass change & you need to remember these people were my peers & mentors .The real movement stopped in the eighties & got lost in the noise .

Its good to see the new gen like you guys trying to change the world but your doing it the wrong way .So what have you done to change the system ? its ok i already know ....nothing . I think if you or others really want to change the systems in place become a politician or get down to your local member of parliament & make a noise . . Im being serious thats the only way you will get a say in it . We have no mandate by referendum so your only choice is be in parliament or know politicians & pay for the priviledge but you guys are such tightarses the second option isnt a possibility so you need to know your local member so he can try to do deals with the other members in his party to change things .Dont worry if hes not your favourite member even if you hate him & his party ...butter him up tell him how good a bloke or woman they are & get the ball rolling . There is no other way . Posting on an internet forum definately will NOT
From a few threads on here ive read you have really lost the plot on getting things done calling sweeteners bribes & immoral etc . Thats the way of the real world & sweeteners are par for the course .
Go on get off your arse & really make a difference not you personally hawkeye but all you change the world ive got a great idea crew theres quite a few on here im sure you could make enough noise for someone to at least listen My words of advice would be keep it realistic .

once agin, aint no system changin happenin here.

In a liberty bull market since the 70s you reckon? I beg to differ. Nearly every new regulation or law passed by our government reduces someone's freedoms in some way.

^ Enron is a classic example of crony capitalism enabled by the presence of Government not its absence. I don't know enough about the other examples but I have almost no doubt that there is some form of market intervention distorting the markets.
OK, I see your point, that companies get away with things supported by government cronyism. I think you meant government intervention distorting the markets. ;) Do you think that companies will do what is best for the general populace or do what is best for their shareholders? Look for example at the Murray/Darling water system. Do you think that if a company/individual who owns the water rights at the top of the system will do what is best for the owners of the water rights at the bottom of the system? They won't! They will maximise their profits by selling water to the people at the top of the stream.

Tax is someone forcing you to pay whatever price for whatever product/service.
The consequence of this doesn't need explanation.

And 'privatizing roads'?
That's dead simple.
Those that want them, pay them.
Just like any product.
Toll booths?
Haha.
Why making it hard?
All it needs, is a contract.
That's a paper that describes the products/services you pay for..

We essentially aready have a "user pays" road tolling system thanks to our Govt. imposed fuel excise. The more you drive, the more fuel you use & therefore the more excise you pay.

Problem is, the govt is diverting the excise collected away from roads. But exactly the same thing can (and has) occur with private toll roads.

We of the sinking middle class may sink without further struggles into the working class where we belong, and probably when we get there it will not be so dreadful as we feared, for, after all, we have nothing to lose.

Body corporates and gated communities will easily solve any potential issues on their turf.

I always thought of body corporate fees as being a tax too, just seems to be swapping one unavoidable fee for another one. At least you can join in on the body corporate and have a say in how the money is to be spent.

It's definitely evil.

Is any evil necessary?

Exactly! Tax IS evil ... and therefore could never be defended as being 'nescessary'...

Else one may as well propose the question "Was the holocaust a nescessary evil?"

Ridiculous question, right?!?

Well so too is the question of the thread.

Those defending the indefensible obviously don't believe in individual freedoms as a fundamental human right.

If anyone thinks tax is a necessary evil you have not stumbled across Stefan Molyneux. This guy has the most sound logic, rationality and only goes off empirical evidence. Which led him to become an anarcho capitalist, which I believe is the end point of any libertarian thinking person

Listen to some of his free books or podcasts, he is really good, it will blow your mind

What is 'necessary' is what people are willing to pay for.
Tax doesn't ask. It forces.
So tax and necessity exclude eachother.
