No care really needed, its easy to re-do any area of the bar that you went too heavy or light on...no such thing as messing it up...the metal is soft enough to be very forgiving.
You get into a rhythm doing it, really fast and easy to get great results.

OK, repaired the furnace, and there's much less crud flying around to get into the crucible, but the scum problem is no better.
Thinking maybe it's impurities in the metal, I've started re-refining a kilo of what I believe is at least 995.
Starting with a source that pure, the amount of copper (or anything else) that can get into the final result is far, far less.
In the process of making the electrolyte, I dissolved 62g down to 25g, giving this deeply etched effect.

How do you add the markings/writing? Do you have a stamp or is it in the mould?

They are not my pours but maker uses number/letter punch and hammer.
