Complete N00b with my second coin!

I started a thread off yesterday as I had absolutely no idea if my Australian Koala was real silver or not (ebay seller). After a few calculations and reviewing the seller further it is correct. Silly Perth Mint showing 4mm when it's actually 2.7!

Anyway... Today I received my second coin & my scales!

The thickness was just over 3mm just to note.

I'm really happy with the basic equipment I now have. Reading posts on here offers me security that my investment is worth while and in the long term could quite possibly multiply (who knows). Either way... it will buy the same jeans today in 20 years time at worst.

I'm starting off in silver to learn more about it, get some experience in it before I try and offer a 1/10 split between silver and gold with my physical investment. Maybe in the future i'll make the fraction smaller but to get a solid stock in first would be very beneficial.

If your coin was 4mm thick, it would weigh almost 1.7 oz

A useful trivial fact:
The amount of silver, in troy ounces, of a 40mm diameter pure silver cylinder is 0.4242 times the thickness in millimeters.
Of course coins have all sorts of leaves, queens, and furry animals to leave you with empty space from the rim.

Did you get the measuring thingy of Amazon too? Need to get me one of those.

Well it doesn't hurt to be cautious I guess!

Wait till you buy a monster box, will take you ages to measure them all.

Nice coin by the way, I want to get one of those.

I got my callipers from Aldi
