I wouldn't venture so far as to say "taking over". The RAM Kangaroos are a long running series of Roos and well known worldwide. Kangaroos have always featured in our coinage. Perth have in one way or another (numis & bullion) had roos. Perth's venture into high relief ag roos is relatively recent but I do not think that "taking over" is quite the perspective.
