Does anyone know how many kooks you would need to ask the PM for to actually get a restrike? I was looking for a 2004 kook and came across Jaggards and basically it stated you could get a special order for 2004 kooks but you needed to order 2500 of them. Any information if that's the number needed to get a restrike?

Just saw on the KJC website that restrikes for other years (e.g. 2000, 2001) are already underway...due early next year by the sounds of things

i have a question can they go back and re mint the other sizes of kook's ?

Only the limited issues mate.

Unlimited is a done deal.

Edit

That's for bullion!

For numi stuff, Perth will mint what they like....example the 2oz - 12 coin set to be release in Nov and the High relief.

yes sorry meant bullion coins, so once they are done they are done that's good, was just looking at whats been happening with the PM re mints that they might go back mint 2 5 10 oz etc..

thanks for the answers :)

Don't forget the series 2 - 1 kilo silver lunar coins won't have their mintages declared until the end of the series (2019)

I'm not sure why Perth won't declare the mintage for the kilo coins on a yearly basis; maybe they will issue a 12 x Kilo set???

TBD (To Be Declared)

i have the opportunity at present to purchase some kooks $1 coins dated from 1991 through to 1996 for a price of $43. I have just recently bought my first kook 1990 at $43.. Bought it on a hunch that there seemed to be a few buyers out there asking for it.

Do you think, I should get these kooks at $43 or should I just let them go through to the keeper?

Your answers would be appreciated.

Regards Errol 43

Are they re-strikes errol43?

imo, $43 is a bit expensive for a re-strike.

With all these re-struck Kooks in the market, there's going to be collectors who have mixed sets of first strikes and re-strikes.

I'd say we will see collectors that:

Make a set of first strike coins.

Make a set of mixed, first strike and re-struck coins.

Sets that are just re-strikes.

There's plenty of collectors that want perfect coins which will be graded MS70. Those coins when sent to the graders will come back as MS70 first strike or MS70 restrike.

There's going to be a lot of confusion in the market, so before buying your Kooks, it might be a good idea to work-out what you want to collect and why.

I hope this helps in some way and FWIW, just enjoy your purchase. If you think spot will rise in the future a $43 Kook could be seen as very good buying.

Cheers

Gold stackers has Re-strikes, 95, 96, 02, 03, 07 Kooks for $39.15 or if you buy a roll $37.15

The only difference between an original and a restrike is the holder. If you have the coin graded - it is removed from it's holder and placed in a NGC or PGCS holder and sealed. Therefore you can no longer tell the difference. A restrike becomes an original and vise versa.
