Anyone for monopoly

I think the Albanese government was installed again with only 36 percent of the popular vote. That means that nearly 2 in 3 voters actually voted against his government. The system is rigged.

It's not rigged.

We have a preferential voting system as you know. In 2025 Labor polled about 35% of the primary vote. The Coalition polled around 31% which going by your statement means that around 70% of people didn't want them in power, and with Independents about 34% of the voters wanted them in which of course means that 64% didn't.

You can't form a government that represents the majority of the voter's intent on those figures alone. So that's why we have a preferential voting system.

After preferences were distributed Labor received around 55% of the vote, indicating a clear intent of the majority of voters in Australia.

Rubbish, the majority have no clue how preferences work.
They have no clue that their independent is giving their vote to a major party.
It’s ignorance just like ignorance to personal financial health.
Hey, but it’s an opportunity to blame someone or something else

Nonsense.

When voting for the House of Reps, the only person that can direct their prefences is the voter.

When voting for the Senate, we have optional preferential voting. The voter can cast their votes 1,2, 3 etc above the line, or they can take the exhaustive route and number every box below the line.

Should the voter's preferences above the line be exhausted without any clear winners filling seats, their first preference is distributed to the party which had a preference deal with whichever party the voter cast as their first vote. But that can only happen in the Senate.
