Our opposition leader Mr Short of an idea is trying to out do the prime minister Mr Turn coat in raping and pillaging the draft horses of our society who have for decades carried the load of paying taxes and providing for themselves under an SMSF.
We have recently wound up our SMSF as the May 2016 budget which was aided and abetted by Mr short of an idea and the green slime who made it abundantly clear that all political parties in Australia do not intend to allow people to continue to control their own retirement.
The best self managed system in the world has been neutered under the guise of fairness.

I am currently drafting a letter to my federal liberal party member with a cc to every upper and lower house member of all parties requesting that he introduce a bill into parliament to complete the job that Mark Latham started to remove the parliamentary and civil service super excesses.

As our politicians believe that we should be able to live on the pension that 80% of the population face on retirement I think its only reasonable that they share our pain.

I urge you to write to your federal member and cut and past my recommendation.

Despite your good intentions it's a waste of valuable effort. You can't curb the excesses of the State by appealing to those who orchestrate the State's excesses.

You'd be better off trying to change the minds of voters. Write to newspapers, post on facebook, join forums and get the message out there. Tell your friends. Attack the system at every opportunity you get. Join an activist group. Donate to the LDP or other groups that can lobby on your behalf. Don't vote. Don't get annoyed.

And resign yourself to the fact that you're unlikely to see any change in your lifetime.

Ask your federal member to support a bill that will strip all parliamentarians and treasury bureaucrats of their obscene superannuation entitlements (sic). Like 80% of the population who must go on the government pension allocate only that to our representatives who claim they are there to serve the public.... Since they tell us that we who have set up our SMSF's 30 years ago and followed the law and now have been stripped of that entitlement because according to treasurywe haven't paid a fair amount of tax..... (remember Joe Hockey's comment on entitlement ? He who could collect his parliamentary pension and was given a nice $350K earner as a diplomat with out needing to retire).

Of course you also have Mr Keating whose pension is a very large seven figure sum saying the franking credits were never meant to flow to people in SMSF's.

Yes Mr short of an idea lets screw the rich, we can start with the pollies and work our way down in a race to the bottom. As Winston Churchill said the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries. Clearly we have a socialist government and a socialist opposition.

Like the animal farm story the pigs in Canberra have their snouts firmly in the public trough.
 
If 10,000 people wrote to their federal member and demanded a cut to the obscene parliamentary and treasury super entitlement it would do more than trying to influence the sheeple as the media loves to rip into all pollies as it sells papers. Think about the fact that public life in a democracy was initially about serving for the public good not to feather your own bed. The western word is full of feather dusters.

Democracy is a farce.

Write away. It won’t change a thing. 99% of the politicians in this country are ideologically opposed to individuals being self-responsible and independent of the State.

Edit to add: you won’t find politicians solving your problem nor will you find a solution within the establishment.
 
Had a bit of a giggle going back and reading this old post. Most certainly Australia is living George Orwell's animal farm scenario when you look at the recent government's moves to permenantly castrate self magaged super so that the only option will be a union controlled super dooper scam of the cupped hands. Most certainly you would never put any of your own money in super now. Whenever there is a pot of gold you never want to be between that and a pollie or treasury official as has just been verified with the current legislative scheme (scam).

According to the latest poll in the Australian Newspaper today 62% of sheeple think what the government is doing to those who have spent decades building a nest egg is ok. One of the only things I have always despised about Australians and for that matter Canadians my birthplace is the tall poppy syndrome.

When that idiot Moron Morrison was treasurer and brought in the super cap the wife and I could see where this was headed and we knew it was time to liquidate our third investor pillar our SMSF and get out before the proverbial shit hit the fan. If you can recall all my posts about building wealth in three structures way back in 2011 to around 2015 I use to speak about 3 trust structures each independent with a moat of liquidity around each one. So when the Liberal and labor barbiarians looked at breaching our SMSF gate we got out.

How do you say? We were fortunate to be the right age. We had a brilliant older legal eagle ( I used to get headaches when I first consulted him it was so intense) who had guided us for decades but in the early noughties he got cancer and I knew it would be unlikely we would find another like him so.... I joined the National Tax Accountants Association and did around 300 hours of seminars on super and trust law. The reason? It wasn't to be a smart ass bush lawyer or hack accountant but rather to be able to understand the advice and was that advice on the money?

So when we told our new young lawyer and existing accountant our intention their advice was what we were doing was illegal. So I then drew up three plans. Plan A was what we thought was right. Plan B was what our Lawyer thought and plan C was the accountants advice. I then with the help of our new lawyer found a queens council lawyer whose specialty was superannuation tax law and trust law. I then forwarded all three advice scenario's. The account threw a hissy and did not come but the lawyer was delighted to come. Of course we were right and to his credit our young lawyer was delighted for us and still represents us.

Ocassionally I go down memory lane and read some of the correspondence and documents that I was so engrossed in and I wonder how the hell did we do that.

The barbarians are at the gates again. We spent a month in Canada first time we were back for 26 years. When I immigrated to Australia in 1974 the standard of living was much better than Australia now... it is reversed. In Canada when you purchase a home the stamp duty is 8% when you buy and 8% when you sell AND YOU PAY LAND TAX EACH YEAR ON THE FAMILY HOME. The green slime in Australia would also having us pay capital gains tax on the sale of the family home in addition to the stamp duty and land tax ... go figure comrade.

Our scum Liberal and labor dross are working on doing the same with land tax on the family home by temporarily removing stamp duty. Our political pigs have their snouts in the public trough and need more our our assets to control us.
