Well they removed the limit of 1 per person as of yesterday so I assume bulk orders were put in then by people

Because I ordered mine so quickly I was hoping to get low mintage numbers, but mine are in the 2200-2400 range. No biggie, but was hoping to get 3 digit numbers :p

More birds coming soon from Perth Mint...

Our latest gold bullion coin features the beautiful Victoria’s Riflebird, a bird of paradise endemic to north-eastern Queensland.

The bird of paradise is famously associated with the island of New Guinea, where its beautiful plumes are used as currency by local tribes and worn as adornments during cultural ceremonies.

A remarkable example is Victoria’s riflebird. Known as the ‘duwuduwu’ to the indigenous Yidinji people, it was recorded by Scottish naturalist John Macgillivray in 1848 and subsequently named after the reigning UK monarch, Queen Victoria.

In colour, the male bird’s similarity to the uniforms of contemporary British riflemen is the purported reason for its common title. Predominantly velvety black, the plumage includes areas of iridescent greenish blue, purple and bronze which are used to showy effect during its theatrical courtship dance. This flamboyant display involves a series of initial nodding, weaving and flapping movements. As a dramatic finale, the bird holds its head high while arching its wings skyward in a dramatic appeal for a mate.

Interesting to note that this has a limited mintage of 50000 much the same as the 2018 Wedgetail Eagle. To buy a box of 100 new Paradise will set you back $400 more than the Eagles. Hopefully other dealers may have them at a more suitable price

Seems like a random release and as usual they slap a 50k limit on it to give it some sort of demand

Not a bad looking coin, but doesn't really interest me

Perth Mint have again placed a 10 coin limit on this and you can only order via telephone for a few days
Hope this is not going to be the rule of thumb for new designs. I have just received my limit of 10 Swans and note with the credit card 1.5 percent and the postage total was about $37 per coin. I prefer to buy in boxes of 100 and will not partake in limited edition coins with a purchase of only 10 which bumps the price considerably

I can’t find it on the Perth mint website?

Curiously continues to be omitted from the Perth bullion sales-to-date listing....
But it's my understanding now (from dealers) that the 2018 Wedge Tailed is in fact unlimited. That would go some way to explain the price difference between it and the Paradise which is limited to 50k. Looks like maybe being a quite high mintage year too, by Wedge tail standards, as being a single year design only will have captured more interest.
