LOL. The seller is the creator, originator, and architect of the coin. I'm not sure how all that works. He's in the U.S. He joined forces with a renown tatoo artitst, and some how has made it legal tender in Ghana (5 Cedis = 1.57 U.S dollars). Sounds like he's on to something. Creating unique, legal tender coins, with extremely low mintage. Couldn't agree more.

Wouldn't be the first time a private US mint made low-mintage Ag legal tender for a small country.

A number of examples out there going back to at least the 1970's.

holy crap, a 1982 silver coin, and not a spot to be found. Go figure. And this version of the lunar skull is much better. :-) Thanks for sharing this one. Interesting!!

They're fairly common, and can be had for a pretty affordable price. Lack of spotting might be due to the lower .500 Ag composition.

Anyway, keep in mind that the 2015 Ghana is only a graphic.

I'm sure the real thing looks even nicer in person, as many tend to do.

What most folks going with? Proof? Or BU? 2,500.00 seems a bit high of a mintage, no? And for 20.00 more, you can get proof, and a mintage of 500. Thoughts? For transparency, I did get 3 proofs. Just curious to hear thoughts on one over the the other. My only concern with the proofs is that they show imperfections a bit more than the BU satin finish.

Pre-ordered 5 of the proof release, hope they have a nice finish. These are a very cool idea for a lunar coin.

Yeah, I ordered another 1. Total of 4. I'm with Bullion Baron, and even wrote the owner, "I hope the picture doesn't do the real thing any justice, because we'll all be happy." I hope it's not a case of the picture being awesome, then when you get the real thing, it sucks. please dear Lord. LOL. 2 more left. Although, by the time I finish, they'll be gone...but it shows only 31 sold, so maybe more coming online at a higher price?

It's 500 for proof & 2K for BU -- for a total of 2,500.

At least according to eBay, people are going nuts for the proof. BU not getting much love, but who knows how many are being sold via that other site.

Besides, once the proofs go bye-bye, the BU should be getting more attention.

Dies aren't cheap. Design, scarcity & 1st-year issue aren't the only reasons why these have the asking price that they do. Need to cover those minting costs, and retail has to pay up as a percentage when it comes to low-mintage.

I went with one of each. Personal preference & variety. I like satin finishes. In addition, they can develop some really cool toning that the proof simply can't -- and some people pay good money for cool toning. :D

Seems like most here are going for the proof.

Tempted to pick up a 2nd set, but the wallet is saying no. I've got too much still on my shopping list, and you gotta draw the line somewhere.

Anyway, you have to think that the guys behind this are now wishing they had asked an even higher price.
