Thanks for sharing that. I've seen the 1918 MS64 go for about AUD 600 or so, while the 2014 is (I think) available for about AUD 600 or so? Which means a total of around AUD 1200. For the Royal Mint set, they don't specify the grades of either coin... I suppose the higher price mainly has to do...

Just thought I'd share with the forum that it seems in order to mark 200 years of the "modern" sovereign, the 2017 design will be based on the 1817. Should be interesting to see what they come up with.

Oh thank goodness... I thought I was the only one who doesn't really like the RAM designs. In general their coins have pretty ugly designs. Well perhaps they do have an appeal to certain people as beauty is subjective, so I'm not judging, but they're just not to my taste at all.

If things were to get anarchic to the point that gold became the ultimate commodity, I think people would probably kill for it. And envisioning oneself happily walking around in that future, using their gold to buy basic necessities, would be positive thinking at best :D

From what I've gathered, 2014 was the first year of the Half Sovereign (there was no 2013 Half Sovereign). The Full Sovereigns, as you said, are available from 2013 though.
