Dentist, n.: A Prestidigitator who, putting metal in one's mouth, pulls coins out of one's pockets.-Ambrose Bierce.

BMW car sounds like a pain--was that a brand new car or used? New Cars seem like a rip-off buy but can never trust unknown issues.

My old dentist took offence and bacically implied I was a conspiracy theorist for questioning the safety of putting Mercury in people.

    Unbelievable.

I had the same experience last time I went to the dentist and asked not to have mercury. He asked if I found the mercury info on a conspiracy website. Then he went on about how it's safe today because it's locked/bonded with silver in precise measurements ... etc.

He also gave me a bill about double his usual rate. Which I suspect was his way of saying if you're that picky, you can afford to pay more.

Re: Cars - Would only go for Toyota, Subaru or Honda when buying again (far better build quality and they age gracefully) - preferably 2 -3 yo old car (rather than new) so its done a lot of its depreciating already (but still has that new car smell :D).

Mum has a Hyundai and it goes pretty well for one of the cheapies.

Maples for 49 when spot was 46 and change... At least I only bought two. Best purchases were a 1913 canadian 5 dollar gold coin for spot 395 at the time and a cayman islands 25 dollar 1.52 asw sterling coin for 30 percent under spot at the pawnshop!

Should have bought one in 1983. Old man paid $18k, got $21k trade-in in 1993!

Worst bullion purchase was trading a kilo bar for 4x Series I 2oz Lunars. Screwed up a mental calculation by a factor of 2 and buzzed. Bloody things cost me about $220 ea.

They're still sitting in the stack saying "dare ya to take a loss!".

Probably all the PM gilded coins I own because while I really like them no one else seems to...

I feel like I'm the odd one out at times and I still don't understand why.

my worst ... well, may be the dragon 2012, bought this summer for $55 ... but it is one coin, it is for collection, and it doesn't bother me at all as I am not going to sell it before my other stack go.

as of the best purchase, I have lot's of them, but the most outstanding is a set of proof south korean coins, including 0.5 oz gold coin I won in 2010 at auction for $70
