DAMN! I was asking UBS about gold and they told me it would be ordered in at the branch I was near within two days... And I forgot to ask how much!!!
Not every small brach stocks all types, but the main one just down the road from Zurich stations has everything!
Yeah, I was there a few weeks ago and neglected going to the head station... If I had any idea they only charged 1% premium I would have!
Dunno about the really small ones. I only got 5g, 20g and 1oz ones, and they were about 1% over if you pay in CHF or EUR.
Bought these 1/2oz gold buttons yesterday. Learned something interesting from another stacker at our meet. Seems they are an ideal format for smuggling gold. Just swallow these pill size gold buttons and let nature take it course after you arrive at your destination.
The funny this is, it would probably be good for your body too. Any small particles that are released in the body can have a cleansing and anti-bacterial effect.
But what if you really need to go while on the plane? Do you take plastic bags in your pocket so you can pack it in, pack it out? Or do you give it a wash and repeat the process Hope you have short fingernails.
How many of these in your stomach, large intestine, colon, would it take to set off the metal detector? Who wants to try it? Its quite tempting as it would be great to know the answer.
An Aztec word for "gold" is "teocuitlatl", which literally means "excrement of the gods"; from "teotl" meaning "god", and "cuitlatl" meaning "excrement". Therefore... it is theoretically possible, that if you smuggled gold into Mexico, and got caught by customs (because the metal detector went off), when they make you go to the toilet, and they see what you shit, some of the customs officers might freak out because they'll think you are a god. Cool...
