I was happy to be amongst the throng waiting outside the Perth Mint this morning before doors opened to secure my Poseidon.

Here are a few photos of the coin - I couldn't be happier with my purchase. :)

A nice detail is the "revolving" of characters in the illustration on the outer box, to bring Poseidon to the front (on the Zeus release, Zeus was at center).

    Hope you enjoy the photos.

Thanks! First real pic uploaded. All the background stuff looks a bit messy, and detracts from the main Poseidon. Meh... I think the renderings look better :/

I have to wait a week or so to get mine in hand. Many people have said it's an ugly coin. I'm impartial, but it's definitely unique. You have to appreciate the time and work that has gone into the production.

If only the same time and effort had been put into preparing a smooth sales process :/

Gorgeous photos btw. You have some skill with the camera!

    Thanks atlas.

I think I actually prefer this depiction over Zeus, whom, as the God of all Gods in the Greek pantheon, looks a bit anaemic. Poseidon is a bit more as one might expect a greek God to be. ie: not needing a burger.

I like the fine detail in this coin... fishnet, dolphins, sea swell and so on.

So the silkscreened image on the Poseidon black box brings Poseidon to the forefront ( Holding his trident , facing us ) ....as it should.

But they used the same silkscreening on the Poseidon wooden box as the Zeus coin ( Zeus in the forefront , Poseidon facing left...Hades to the right )

Beautiful coin , it just seems a bit cheap and lazy of the mint to use the same silkscreening on the wooden box for all 3 coins ...but change it on the black box.

funny, but this thing has like a gazillion things going on. very busy. best of success to those who got one or two or three, etc...me no like. They need to take some lessons from the Chinese on how to make coins like these.

Yendor, there were allegedly 30 coins up for grabs in person at the mint this morning, and 20+ people queuing before 9am. It might be worth giving the mint a call.

Other than for the hideous looking Zeus coin, this coin is the ugliest coin of the year and one in which the drawing looks better than the actual coin.

There are a few indicators that *might* suggest another drop of Poseidon coins.

The first, was a comment on the latest Perth Mint blog post:

"Half an hour before it became available for sale online we had more than 450 customers logged into our website waiting to buy. That figure increased as we moved towards launch time with even more buyers chasing the first tranche of our website's allocation of 300 coins."

A "first tranche" suggests there could be subsequent batches still to come.

The second, is the red text on the Perth Mint product page:

"LIMIT OF ONE COIN PER EXISTING MEMBER
until midday 5 June 2014 AWST."

One can perhaps surmise that the "one per customer" rule will be lifted if coins haven't shifted by lunchtime Thursday.

It frustrates me that these details are left intentionally ambiguous. Is it too much to expect some transparency as far as numbers are concerned? Last year a stacker posted here how he managed to get an idea of how many units of a particular coin was still in stock in the PM webshop by attempting to add a massive quantity to his cart. The site by default told him only "X" number was still available.
Alas, Poseidon's "one per customer" rule doesn't allow us this indulgence at the checkout.
