Welcome back! Haven't seen you around for quite awhile. Didn't know it would take the stock horse to bring you out of hiding!
Anyone have a clue when we will be able to get the non carded 2014 Stock Horse coins in Europe? And who will be stocking them? One dealer said end of May / June, but maybe they will be released before? If the carded ones are really becoming on sale on the 1st April then it seems strange that the non carded ones won't be around in Europe before. Last year they unexpectedly hit the Europe market earlier than anticipated. I hope they can be found at the same prices as last years ones.
I'm thinking that April 1st is just when Perth is able to release them to EMK, who will need some time sell and ship them to it's wholesale dealers. We're probably at least a few weeks away still. I think the prices may be higher than last year at release as dealers have been told that their allocations will probably be less than they were able to get last year and will depend on how much other stuff they have purchased from them. So those dealers that were able to get 500+ coins last year will likely get far less this year.
Hey Db, so when the Perth mint website says they are selling the stock horse on April 1st, is this the same stock horse in the series or different. Because if the same, and it is offered thru main site, it will be an 85.00 coin. I thought last year it came out in June and it was a German company that had the rights to the series?
The series is commissioned by EMK in Germany, they still have the rights to it as far as I know. The coin Perth will sell will be the carded type like they did last year. Series mintage of 10K but only 1K stays in Australia and is sold in the cards (only to people with addresses in Australia or New Zealand I believe) while the other 9K are sent to Germany to be distributed by EMK and sold with a COA. When it was released last year really has no bearing on when it'll be released this year. I don't believe Perth would undercut EMK by releasing theirs first, then again Perth has shown what kind of people run the show there so ya just never know.
Thanks db! When they offered the 1k last year, was it made available on the main PM website? Just curious. I don't remember seeing it there, but perhaps it was. I thought maybe it was thru Downies. I have a feeling this stock horse coming out on April 1st is different than the 'series?' Just my dumbarse guess. Appreciate your feedback, however.
Im fairly sure only the carded version was sold from perth mint and only in australia. The 9000 uncarded with coa's were sold via dealers overseas.
thanks much chris, and db. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled. I have a feeling these are going to come out of the gate very expensive, at which point, I'll pass...the only regret I have is, I wish I had bought 100 of last year's horse, when I had the chance...at 54'ish dollars. oh well, as they say in real-estate...a deal of a life-time comes by every month.
Perfect. Thanks for the update. So that April 1st Perth Mint stock horse is a different series altogether? Thanks much.
2nd coin in the same series. Wholesale distributor offers haven't even been sent out yet, so we're not too close to release yet.
So what does available on 1 April mean? Will you be able to buy from Perth Mint on line on the 1st? I have never watched a release from them closely so not sure what really happens on that date.
My guess is that April 1st likely means when Perth will release them to EMK, not when the buying public can access them. People outside of Australia are not going to be able to buy them from Perth Mint.
Or could this be a different stock horse vs the one that will be released for the series? That's the million dollar question, IMHO.
Here's the link to the latest releases, including info for the new stock horse. http://www.perthmint.com.au/forthcoming-releases.aspx And... to the Perth website for the "old" 2013 "The Australian Stock Horse" page. http://www.perthmint.com.au/catalogue/the-australian-stock-horse-2013-1oz-silver-coin.aspx Lets hope the carded horse is a low mintage.
