I've just read this thread and i've got to say, the community and support shown is damn inspiring!! i have anxiety myself and i know first hand how stresfull tiny things can be.. i've recently started applying for work again. And heck.. applying is stressful. I have no idea how i will go if i actually get a job!! All i can do is try. That is all anyone can do. Congrats on the job theend. Stick it out and Don't let gravity get you down!
so....... the end, is your work ethic evolving, or have you got it sussed ? just interested to know. all the best anyway !
Yes i am continually thinking about this new job all the time and thinking about the jobs i will be doing next week. Another problem I have is my lower back is very sore today I have a bad verterbrae that does'nt align with the spine properly and some days I can hardly walk. Goin to get some chiro treatment today.
Forget chiro and invest in acupuncture. Also for short term relief get to a Terry White chemist and get Zen spray...not the ointment.
Just got back from chiro treatment.....Much better now after spine adjustment and I can walk properly without pain. Gott leave work early on monday and go back for another adjustemnt at 6.30pm. Hopefully the bosses will understand that i need my chiro treatment every now and then?
If you're helping them make good money, or even better, making your direct manager look good to his boss, then you'll get plenty of leeway. If you can, especially as you gain confidence in the position, try to some make extra effort beyond what is required. And let any bullshit slide. With patience and effort, the chances of it paying off increase substantially.
I once met a nice girl and decided the relationship wasnt worth pursuing when she told me it was the worst movie ever made
Good thing is they're going to send me off to get a few special tickets required to do the job properly and be safe and competent. That is all organised to be done in january.
6.30pm is the latest appointment the chiropractor can do. My back is sore again today not as bad as yesterday and I can walk but its still sore.
Strategic and tactical ass kissing is the name of the game in any organisation that involves a management hierarchy.
TheEnd isn't, and he's looking for some leeway in a new job. As I said, if he's helping them make money and If he makes his direct manager look good to that guy's boss, then it's more likely he'll be cut some slack. And remember what form I suggested that take: "If you can, especially as you gain confidence in the position, try to make some extra effort beyond what is required. And let any bullshit slide. With patience and effort, the chances of it paying off increase substantially."
You only need to kiss ass if you aren't a top worker. I tend to work hard enough so that speaking my mind doesn't get me branded a troublemaker. Best to keep your mouth shut until you know the battlefield and the players though which can take a year or so.
Keeping quiet initially is very good advice. Working hard, showing genuine effort and making a valuable contribution should also seem like obvious positives... unless it threatens someone with influence, especially in a unionised workforce. Workplace politics can be complex and nasty.
