Here is Bron's thread announcing his move: http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-71921-monetary-metals-hires-bron-suchecki.html
Thanks I missed that. Still I wonder what he has to say about the 2015,s given his 20 year experience with PM, or is silence the clue to the truth?
This has made a interesting topic. Most interestingly, that since this topic on the 2015 Kangaroo has been raised, it has miraculously motivated The Perth Mint to release the Australian allocation. And they thought nobody would notice - well, well, well, BUSTED ! It appears they tried to pull a fast one on the public but got sprung. And what is more unbelievable a coin that should already be in the hands of Australians cannot be dispatched immediately. This is most incredible as they are supposed to manufactured here, which has been also questionable among many. Let's hope they don't have do the fast foot shuffle on that one ! Although, I wouldn't mind seeing them squirm again. It may actually wake them up, and put the interests of the consumer first. So where are these mystical 50,000 2015 Kangaroo's ? Did Perth Mint have to recall a certain amount back from the USA dealer in question, or do they have them in storage, or do they strike more ? Will that lift the entire mintage to 350,000 as it appears Coin 'n' Things had bought the entire 300,000 mintage. This has been a comedy of errors that can only be rivaled by The Keystone Cops.
Not me. Decent design, with potential for an okay premium rise due to a controversial issue -- but still garbage quality. And I don't care if it's "just bullion" -- I can buy "just bullion" with much better quality elsewhere. If they ever did a nice low-mintage, reasonably-priced proof version, I'd consider it..
Who knows? But, remember the 2013 and 2014 Koala privy coins? Initially the 2013 Koala privy bullion coin sold on eBay very cheaply, now they are expensive; same goes for the 2014 Koala privy coin, Gold Stackers were selling them at a discounted price just to off-load them back in March 2015 for about $32.50 but now they are double that price / tripple. Having said that, the Koala privies had a small mintage, the 2015 Australian Kangaroo Silver Bullion Coin has a mintage of 300,000 so who knows what will happen to prices. Perth are ramping up production for the Silver Kangaroo, it can't hurt to have a few of the first issue (2015) and besides, the 2016 coin is an un-limited mintage, meaning that Perth can mint an unlimited quantity for an un-limited time. They can-restrike the 2016 Kangaroo bullion coins when ever they like, as often they like until the coins are "Declared", same goes for 2017, 2018, 2019, etc etc etc. The good part for collectors is that the 2015 Australian Kangaroo Silver Bullion Coin is a "limited" issue of 300,000 and as such won't be re-struck. Wall Street - 2016 Kangaroo coin, no mention of the 2015 coin. http://www.wsj.com/articles/going-f...-jump-on-australias-kangaroo-coins-1466424935 Source:
^^^ "first time the marsupial has graced one of the Perth Mints silver bullion coins" Could be a true statement if the 2015 coins are not considered "bullion coins" using the ATO's definition.
Not again Pete ! The Perth Mint has been around longer than the ATO. 20 June 1899 The ATO should consult a long standing Institution; having said that, Perth do tend to change their "Glossary Of Terms" and "Mintage Policy" now and then. http://www.perthmint.com.au/mintage_policy.aspx
The story is going global. The forum gets a shout out for dubbing this "RooGate" It is very comprehensive so with looking through: http://www.coinweek.com/featured-ne...n-silver-kangaroo-series-began-2015-not-2016/
I can see 7 listings for the 2015 Kangaroo on the Baypreciousmetals site. single coin from sealed box 1 in NGC holder- 43 sold total 43 single coin from sealed box 2 in NGC holder- 59 sold total 59 lot of 2 - 1 sold total 2 lot of 5 - 120 sold total 600 lot of 10 - 316 sold total 3,160 lot of 25 - 143 sold total 3,575 lot of 100 - 11 sold total 1,100 Grand total 8,539 Doesn't seem to be hugely popular in the US. Maybe more than 50,000 will end up back down under?
Its because the collector base for this coin is much less than the stacker/investment base. Who really wants a basic minted Kangaroo silver coin? the mintage isnt even that small at 300k! and from the pics and vids I have seen its about the same quality as the dud funnel web spider! 50,000 to "now" be sold to aussies via perth mint (only after questioned in this and the other thread) but put one of those 2015,s up against one of the 50,000 available to aussies 2014 wedge tailed eagles and there will be no comparison in both mint quality desighn appeal and collector value. The 2015s should cost no more to buy than the 2016,s or the FWS. Croc FWS and "Red Kanga" 3 coins in a tri series experiment of a no frills un capped investment grade silver coin! I am sure looking at the croc it was pretty difficult for them to lower their standards and with the FWS they went a little too far, but seems they got it right in the end. Collectors of PM silver bullion coins are far better sticking with other bullion coins with a better quality and presentation in my opinion.
Here is my take on this issue (which I realize many here will disagree with on some issues): http://www.coinweek.com/featured-ne...n-silver-kangaroo-series-began-2015-not-2016/
