So the first Australian Kangaroo Silver bullion coin was the 2015 coin, not the 2016 as described by the Perth Mint.

And they sold the entire 300,000 mintage to one dealer in the USA.

There's going to be lots of pissed - off folk who purchased the 2016 coin thinking it was the first silver Kangaroo to be produced by Perth.

The 2015 also has the miniature security just like the "Second-release" 2016 coin.

Currency (Perth Mint) Determination 2015 (No. 2)

2015 Australian Kangaroo - Commercial Quality - Silver Investor Coin

The design on the 2015 Australian Kangaroo - Commercial Quality (1oz) silver bullion coin, consists of a pattern of shapes representing stylised sunrays surrounding a representation of a kangaroo. The coin includes the micro letter 'A" and the following inscriptions 'AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO' and '2015 1oz 999 SILVER'.

2016 Australian Kangaroo - Commercial Quality - Silver Investor Coin

The design on the 2016 Australian Kangaroo - Commercial Quality (1oz) silver bullion coin, consists of a pattern of shapes representing stylised sunrays surrounding a representation of a kangaroo. The coin includes the micro letter 'A" and the following inscriptions 'AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO' and '2016 1oz 9999 SILVER'.

Just consider it a wake up call about the level of regard the Perth Mint has for collectors (if milk spots didn't already provide sufficient notice).

As long as it doesn't negatively impact profit, and as long as there is a steady supply of suckers, then these things will continue.

Ahh...use to it by now Pete. :D

    *Restruck Kooks.
*Whole mintage of 1oz coloured red Dragon sold to the Chinese.
    *1/2oz Silver Proof Dragon.
    *2oz Silver Proof Lunars.
    *2013 Koala with Chinese privy.
    *2014 Koala with Chinese privy.
*Bullion Koala's sold as Specimen carded coins.
*Coloured 2oz Bullion coins as ANDA specials then they swap to 2oz proof when "sprung".

The list goes on and on and on.

True. It seems that private companies with money are calling the shots. E.g. http://www.newcoinreleases.com/?s=chinese+privy

I was considering buying koalas, kooks and kangaroo coins but it seems all I hear is bad news about Perth Mint. Should I just keep buying Pandas when they are cheap?

Also, why do all the koalas look like they are drawn by retards? They don't seem to be able to capture the beauty of the animal at all...

Have you ever seen a koala? Or any Australian native fauna? They regularly look like they've been drawn by a retarded child.

" The information, details, statistics and figures contained here which relates to mintages and sales figures for all Australian Legal Tender Coins, produced, marketed and initially distributed by the Perth Mint since 1986, have been
prepared, collated and published here as accurate and correct to the best of the Perth Mint's knowledge and belief. "

"Sales as at 31 December 2015
    Last updated 26 April 2016 "

That PDF from the Perth Mint is not accurate, nor does it contain much knowledge...that's my belief.

After driving home hard the fact that the 2016 Kangaroo was a first( Yes they drove home the fact that it was the first likeness of the Kangaroo put on a silver bullion coin, when prior it was all done in gold...watch the numerous videos and articles ) , they purposely left that 2015 mintage off the PDF... hoping it would never see the light of day...after cashing Ebay's sister companies check that is.

Even though that PDF's content is their 2016 other sales ...it has other mintages from 2013/14/15 ....and I don't see the 2015 Kangaroo in any of their other PDF declarations either.

More anomalies and investigations into the 2015 Australian Kangaroo Silver Bullion Coin

*The 2015 Australian Kangaroo omitted from Perth's pdf documents.

*Deceptive description in the pdf document. (Perth called it: Red Kangaroo)

*No mention of the 2015 Kangaroo coin on the official Perth Mint Blog.

Would you have purchased 2016 if you knew there were 2015, s with a limited mintage of 300, 000 already out there?

Come to think about it would you purchase any first release if you knew it was not a first release!

I woudnt have bothered buying the 2016, s unless I had the 2015, s first.

Seems coin flippers have been out flipped on this one! :)

Also have they not broken the legal tender laws by not having the minimum available for sale in country of issue just like the WTE had to have? The 2015, s are a stand alone legal tender mintage not available to Australians.

    Maybe they have kept 10%.

Maybe an ANDA special release or a 2015 & 2016 Perth special release. ;)

Or...2015 Kangaroos coming to you through your local bullion dealer with a hefty mark-up. :)

Good point fishtaco makes. Under the Australian Currency Act all Perth Mint denominational coins have to be approved, and a certain percentage must allocated to be sold within Australia. Correct me if I'm wrong ? But I thought that was law also ? I wonder if the 2015 Kangaroo has been approved ? And if so, why haven't Australian citizens had access to purchase these coins within their own country ?

Well done to Holdfast and silverbullion for providing this information. If you guys like to dig deeper, under the freedom of information laws you could get hold of more details, such as consignment, dispatch, customs orders etc. The mystery of 2015 Kangaroo has made a very interesting topic. Best thread for a while. :p
