thought I would share this with everyone that is interested in Libertads available at Choice Bullion from their site: http://www.choicebullion.com/2014-7-coin-silver-proof-mexico-libertad-set 2014 7 Coin Silver Proof Mexico Libertad Set The set consists of all 7 sizes of silver proof Libertad coins: 5oz, 2oz, 1oz, 1/2oz, 1/4oz, 1/10oz and 1/20oz The coins will come in a traditional wood presentation case with COA. pre-order $475 + Shipping should be delivered Mid July *Please note that there will be a strict limit of 1 set per customer/household. Duplicate orders will be cancelled and refunded.
US$35 standard post to Aus. If you're using PayPal the total will be about US$535. Pricey but 250 sets should make it worth it. 1/20oz... Get working on a 10oz Banco, it's what the people want!
Does anyone know what the mintage of the actual coins will be aside from the sets? or is it just by demand?
Sure as hell not to demand-last years mintage below 1/10 Oz. Silver Libertad 2013, Proof 4,100 1/2 Oz. Silver Libertad 2013, Proof 3,000 1/20 Oz. Silver Libertad 2013, Proof 4,200 1/4 Oz. Silver Libertad 2013, Proof 3,200 1 Oz. Silver Libertad 2013, Proof 9,100 2 Oz. Silver Libertad 2013, Proof 1,300 5 Oz. Silver Libertad 2013, Proof 1,600 All of these are VERY low, especially the 2 and 5 oz.
The 5 coin proof set from 2013 averaged around $250-280 and there were 1,000 sets. Now add in the 2oz ($120) & 5oz ($220) and that would have put a 7 coin set around $590-$620 at a minimum; now subtract 750 sets since there's only 250 of them and account for the fact that this is the first year of release... Just because you don't collect something or it's not of interest to you doesn't mean the demand isn't there.
I think that the question from ScottyS is valid and I was wondering the same thing. Understanding that this set has a much smaller number being offered and the number of coins and total silver is higher, one might still wonder if this set is destined for greatness or not. The 2013 sets are not doing well on eBay. Recent completed sales show that they have not sold at $279. One guy is putting his own sets together (without the box) and selling them for $169. Of course the real libertad lovers will be all over this and 250 sets is really low, gotta be more fans than that who will want to fight over these. That alone should mean enough demand for these to push the prices higher. I'm not really a flipper or a big fan so for me, this would not be a good buy but could be a great opportunity for others.
Torcan, appreciate the heads up. Just put an order in. Checked ebay for completed sales for the 2013 5 coin proof set. They're moving for around $135 which is over $69US/oz. (1.9 oz. in the set). A couple went for around $78US/oz. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2013-NEW-ME...8558455?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item486561dff7 With S&H plus PayPal fee the 7 coin set works out to about $56/oz. for me. I'm fine with that.
That is not an official 5 coin proof set with box and coa---that is just the five coins put in a holder---HUGE difference
UPDATED INFORMATION: confirmation from choice bullion Yes, the set is an official set from Banco de Mexico and will come with a certificate of authenticity like the one pictured on our website. This is not a product that we have assembled from loose coins and put in a box that simply looks like an official box as some dealers have been known to do. Regards, Doug Beyers ChoiceBullion.com Re: 2014 Libertad Info With the increase of SPOT today and our available allocated sets quickly selling, the price for this set will be increasing to $500 at 4:30 PM EST TODAY. If you were interested in a set and have not purchased it yet keep this increase in mind. DISCLAIMER: I am no way affiliated, nor have a personal interest in CHOICE BULLION, or the sale of the Libertads, I post this information here to just give a heads up to my fellow Silver Stacker Forum Members
I like the little cloth sleeve with the "Mexico Seal" that the Ebay vulture (oops---I meant "Top Rated Plus" vendor) probably had screen-printed by his local T-shirt printer. It's a far more "official-looking" presentation than just throwing the coins loose in an old shoebox. I'm surprised he didn't include a "Mucho Officialo Certificado" personally signed by Zorro or maybe the cartoon mouse character Speedy Gonzales. The vendor passes the so-called "Ebay ethics" (HA,HA!) muster because he didn't state his offering is an official Mexico Casa de Moneda proof set, but he really pushes the implications with his statement that "...this is a true collectible...".
If I don't care much about the official set, how much would it cost to buy these proof coins individually to make my own 7-coin set? I'm just curious to know if official set warrants the price difference compared to self-assembled set.
If you were to try and piece together a 2013 collection like this - going by recent ebay sales it'd look something like: 1/20oz - $10 1/10oz - $13 1/4oz - $40 1/2oz - $52 1oz - $55 2oz - $150 5oz - $225 --------------- $545 without box or coa As far as the 2014s, it's impossible to say right now because they aren't going to be out for another week or so. It is a safe bet to assume the mintages will be at least as low as the 2013s since we're already 1/2 way through 2014 before a single 2014 Silver Libertad has even hit the market.
^ Piecing together a set of 7 may also include having to pay separate shipping on each coin depending on where you get each one. .
Anyone who buys one of these sets won't regret it. You will probably just regret not buying a second one! Limited mintage, Stunning coins, nice presentation, excellent history of price appreciation. What's not to love?
If you don't want to fork out $500 USD just yet but looking at owning a Libertad set I'm auctioning the official 2013 4 Coin BU/Proof Mexico Libertad Set over here: http://forums.silverstackers.com/to...2013-4-coin-bu-proof-mexico-libertad-set.html
I am alittle suprised these havent sold out yet considering the low mintage , does this suprise anyone else ? seems like maybe there is just not much demand... I personally think this looks like a very nice set.
Some people don't like their money sitting in a pre-order state when it could be busy doing other things- also limited to 1 per customer through the dealer mentioned.
