Gold/silver ratio

Long gone are the people who value growing their own food over the instant gratification of a drive through.

Wrong @66rounds I value saving the seeds of my best tomatoes each year & getting a uniform copy of the best next year.
I used to swear by GROSSE LISSE for years. This year however, I discovered OX HEART & saved the seeds for next year.
Just this morning I was pulled up in our country Supermarket, by a woman I'd given about 20 tomatoes to & she asked me to give her some seeds for next year.

P.s. I see we are on the GOLD/SILVER RATIO thread, so sorry all.

I happen to be in the potato space (snack foods etc) and it seems to be pretty inelastic. In fact, every factory getting built is at capacity within a year. Can’t grow enough of the damned things
The prevalence of snacks and the local Diabetes Truck (Coca-Cola truck) replenishing the local shopping centre are both an all-too-common site to me. Never ceases to amaze me how much money is pissed away on these. Tough times my butt...

forget growing...I have a niece who would rather buy a sub-200gram bag of Tyrell's rather than spend daddy's money on a 5KG bag of potatoes that she could enjoy for days (with a little preparation) and pay less for. Easy money = easy waste.

Don't be too harsh on her, guide her to the straight path with kindness. The right environment is required for the best sprouts!

"200gram bag of Tyrell's "
CRIKEY, you had me there, WTF is Tyrell's, I said until I looked it up.
Just *kick her in the @R$E & that should *kick some sense into her.
*_JOHNLGALT. does not condone violence against women.

Love my backyard patch...toms (beefsteak, rainbow, lolliepops and others, cues, zucs, corn, eggplant, leeks, carrots, herbs, greens, some berries and fruit tress. Maybe chooks one day. Now if I could just grow BBQ Shapes and Jatz (my favs), life would be perfect. Might even try my hand at blowing up the garage with home brew ale.

And I’d say the mark up from the farm to a single serve cup of fries at the MCG (extra if you want a sachet of sauce??) is comparable to the coca leaves going from the fields in Columbia to up the nose of punters on Melbourne cup day

I now have mainly fruit trees with a sprinkling of herbs and a cherry tomato plant that sprung up from bird shit next to the fence. Oh, and the mandatory rhubarb plant that is ready to pick at the same time as my apples. Hmmmmmm....Apple crumble..yum yum.
I am hoping the apocalypse will wait until May. At least I will have Washington Navels to ease my stress.
