Your core position...

Why pay $350 - $380 for a 10 PM bar, or more for some other fancy name bar, when for the same or less currency you can own a beauitiful 10 oz PM coin?
Because anything without Liz on it should attract a premium :)

How did you determine your Core position? and why would you need one?
To keep up with the Jones's.
It's easy to feel inferior reading about others large stacks.
Plus Bob Chapman tells me I should keep buying, adding more pressure.

I don't really have a core stack - I have a stack because I can't find a better place to stuff my hard-earned at the moment.

Everything in this life is for sale for the right price.

My core position is 1555 oz but I have just got a new job so I want to save 2000 oz for a home. I'm impatient and just want my ROI now but i know that it will be years out if it does happen I want to buy a house in 2015. (Am 22 now) So house prices better keep falling and silver better keep rising.

Or should i just liquidate and buy a really nice car, I don't want to be "that dude with the car" @ 40 or 50. Plus with peak oil I want to get the most of driving it now

Cars are old Tech. Don't get me wrong. I love cars, especially old Yank Tanks with big fins. However I think we're on the cusp of the rules of the game changing and spending stupid money on a flash motor isn't the smartest thing IMHO. Maybe get a reasonable car and when you want to impress just hire a flash one?

Thanks for your contribution... I think 25 Year olds can do the 1000 oz. I just turn 26 and I can tell you that most of people I know are in Epic debts to stupid stuff. Cars. I think the risk of taking the loan for silver in stead of a car would pay off in the long run. But hey, each to their own.

Now if you have 1000 oz for just your core position as a 25 year old, I think you are doing fantastic.

Well if you can take out a loan and claim to 'own it', why not just make it 10,000...

I don't think taking out a loan to buy it is really the point. Heck, if you borrow to buy it, do you really 'own it'?

One thing that is obvious reading these posts is that younger people have no idea of the hardships coming. Flash cars I call bullshit to such posts.

I wouldn't say that. I would say us youngins are pretty clued on on as a generation, particularly compared to previous generations. (generalising)

When I was at uni I had a car that cost $6000 - second hand at the time, it was a better student car. After 10 years or so, I got one worth $10 000 - demo model, with 2 less doors than the first one. Time passes - 10 years later and now I have a car that is worth $1000. I guess people would look at that and say we are going backwards in the effort to be upwardly mobile.

But it still goes, and we do have another car courtesy of work, so can't justify a new one.

If I put glitter all over it it could look very flashy!

Perhaps some of the youngsters could try that for a while.

Do you have 1000oz? im pretty much near 25 and Im not even close to that, I just wish i had started stacking earlier , I can tell you alot of money was blown on Holidays, women, drinks and cigarettes with no savings at all, life is amazing when you dont care about your future lol, now all im doing is budgeting and trying to save it can drive you insane at times.

tips for saving money as a youngster.
don't move out of home untill you get sick of your parents or visa versa.
don't smoke or drink.
buy a secondhand car. learn how to do upkeep yourself.
do cheap or free activity's for dates (if she/he cant stand you when you chose to be cheap how will they deal with it when you have to be cheap.)

= cash in bank silver in safe gold in SDB

having read these posts,

I can't conclude that the younger generation are any more savvy,

but I can conclude that they really like to show off

I think many young guys and girls are too focus on the flashy cars and so on... I guess that's how society as a whole operates. Lets be realistic, Most people in this country are in debt... From cars to the most common debt, Credit cards. It is a fact that if all credit card debt was to be divided equally between all Australians we all be in debt for around $4757 dollars.

How can the young ones have a good foundations when their own parents usually are in debt to liabilities?

This is not everyone of course, but a great majority.

and yes I agree with someone saying that the young ones don't know hard times... But I like to add that people born in Australia from the 60s and up don't really know hard times.

Some people love to show off regardless of age.

Some people don't show off regardless of age.
