WTF IS GOING ON with all the new levies???

Just in the past few weeks there has been suggestions for many new or increased levies. Maybe we need them, maybe not, but why the f$ck arent they called what they really are, i.e., great big new taxes.

* Taxi compensation levy for NSW
* Emergency sevices levy for NSW
* Large land/water conservation levy increase for WA pastoralists
* Geelong levy on CBD businesses to fund $5m in advertising
* New levy on sweet potatoes (1% of sale price)
* Western Sydney light rail levy
* Border clearance levy for people entering New Zealand
* Suggestions on doubling the Medicare levy
* Proposed development levy on new homes in SA

Maybe more, I gave up looking.
 
We should all do our bit to help those who can't help themselves, and in the case of politicians, crony capitalists and union officials - help those who help themselves.
 
Just wait and see what the follow on impact will be from COP21, levies..... you ain't seen levies like the ones still coming
 
How would you feel owning a taxi licence after paying your "protection racket" money to the Govt. and then they let Uber drivers in?

They feel entitled it seems. Entitled to compemsation. Entitled to not bear the cost of their actions, of years of bad service that left the market ripe for a competitor.

Aww the amount of times I've been ripped off by a taxi driver. I'm happy to see this happen. The taxi industry thought they could do whatever they wanted and no one would do anything. Times are changing it seems.

Same as you'd feel when you paid thousands of dollars for a working visa and then the government let all the queue jumpers in.
 
Chestnuts will also have a 1% levy from next year to pay for liability from the chestnut blight response.

A 1% sweet potato levy will be added at the beginning of next year as requested by the Australian Sweetpotato Growers' Association as part of a marketing push for the vegetable.

The orange ones taste pretty good too, but only baked with a chook on Sunday night. :D (They taste a bit like a cross between jap Pumpkin and Carrot)

Are we still paying the 10 cent levy on milk that JWH brought in for the dairy industry reconstruction scheme? :)

11 cents per liter down here, would expect it to be the same nation wide. This is why FRESH milk straight from the dairy is bad for you, it must be pasteurized and processed so the gov can take their cut.
My family and myself have been drinking fresh milk for years, never had an issue.
