A friend of mine who knows bugger all about coins found these while renovating a house in Sydney. He said he found them under some skirting boards and was going to chuck them out but his gut said hold on to them. He has had them in his tool box, just sitting there under his spanners and only when I said I do have an interest in coins he brought these out to me. To be honest I haven't got a clue but thought you guys might know what he has discovered. Of course the $$$ value is what he is interested in. Any ideas would be good? :/

Damn it, i left my McDonalds pocket book at work, If no one finds anything I'll try tomorrow

The only Aussie coin worth anything is the 47 florin @ silver bullion value ($4.80 ish)
48 half penny does have varieties but from memoryiesnothing special, some 33 penny are overdates but this coin is too damaged even if it was
Don't know much about the Brit coins so good luck with them

mc donalds 2012 cat has the 1948 Melbourne mint 1/2d as $3 in very fine 4.598 million issued $10 in EF

1947 florin one of the higher mintages $10 in VF
37 million issued still 50% silver if you want to sell it for its silver weight

the 1933 5.8 million issued $1 in good fine.
$40 for the overdate 33 in good fine, the above isnt good fine, It may be a planchet flaw, but looks more like acid attacked the coin.

i don't do English coins sorry so no idea on price.

hope that helps

thanks

I did an ebay search on the 1888 coin and there was one on for about $350 ish but as you guys are starting to confirm the others, although old, are not really worth that much because of their condition & mintage.

Coin year book 2013, 1888 halfpenny in UNC 190,F 5 which is what it looks like to me VF 14

1898 halfpenny worthless in F, 3 in VF condition

Like with most coin, it all comes down to condition when determining a price.

I would be taking the 1888 to a reputable coin dealer in your area to have the coin assess .....this should give you a better idea on the value
