Im in Thailand atm and some things are cheaper but if you want the company of a lady from a gogo bar it will cost a similar amount to the similar services back home.
Looks like murder was already pretty popular before the current situation

This is really worrying to see!
Murder rates in Europe have soared since the mass-illegal migration crisis.
And in Greece, suicide rates have skyrocketed following the Greek economic crisis:

By the way, the population of Greece has also shrinked. I wouldn't be surprised if that happened to Venezuela as well.
Birth rates would probably decrease during severe crisis, while death rates increase. Oh, and many people leave the affected countries. Especially the young are inclined to leave, I suppose...

That happened in the US during the "Great Recession" as well.
Your post just shows a number of countries by overall suicide rate. And that can be due to a mix of factors, not economic issues (not necessarily): social-cultural factors, alcohol consumption etc.
It's not the overall rates that are interesting by country... Take a look at any particular country during severe social-economic crisis. Take Greece, take Venezuela... or, even Japan (!):

Are you trying to say that the suicide rate increase in Greece is merely due to the economic crisis and not due to a mix of factors, not economic issues (not necessarily), social-cultural factors, alcohol consumption etc.?

The graph was posted to bring you back to reality..a 25% increase is just over 1 person per 100,000.
More would have died in car accidents and work place incidents....should we go fix their roads and oh&s too?

Somehow no-one seems to care about Venezuela. Reminds me of Zimbabwe...
But besides food and medicine, bare necessities, there's really not much to do about their economy. Perhaps they should adopt the euro or the dollar. That would kind-of save them and strengthen either the eurozone of the petrodollar system (such a paradox!).
Needless to say that they're so deep down the pit with the 500 % inflation, terribly low salaries and lack of goods that there's really not much to do with their economy.
It's worrying to think that if this happened to the US/Europe/Australia, then no-one could get those countries out of the mess.
Look at Greece (small country, though... almost a decade in crisis!)... the bigger countries could faller deeper, I reckon.
Then it could last a generation to get out of the pit. Who knows how long that could last.

I can not see gold or silver helping in this situation UNLESS you are leaving the country.
If your goal is to stay and ride things out i can not imagine how PM's would be of any help in saving you in this SHTF situation.

It's odd to read so many negative comments, since many people here on the forum claim to be PM stackers for the sake of finding a "safe haven" in PM's against currency devaluation, economic crisis.

I never said I wanted the West to "take away their rights", I want the West to send them HELP: food, medicine. At least for children, families.
They can live in the democratically-elected regime of their choice (although many want the government down now), but they need help.

It's not hard, it just doesn't fix anything and in my opinion it enables the government to stay in power and continue it's corrupt and irresponsible economic practices.
In short - sending aid would indirectly PROLONG the peoples suffering.
If it were up to me I'd say the UN should be pressuring the government to step down to quell the unrest, facilitate peaceful elections and then once a competent government is elected THEN send aid and help the new government to make a go of it.
At the end of the day if the people are too stupid that they keep voting for corrupt socialists who are going to continually run the country into the ground then they don't deserve help. We aren't running a charity for idiots here. There are plenty more impoverished countries in genuine need of aid that would be more worthy of it.

'Korea' refers to South Korea; as North Korea isn't a member of the OECD. (ROK = South Korea, DPRK=North Korea)
I doubt DPRK would be collecting any statistics on suicides.
