Okay, the other half has been a bit annoyed about all my gold/silver stacking the past few months. So I thought this early birthday pressy was pretty funny. Full props to her for the effort.

Buy her jewellery, worked for my wife and at least you get some use out of it, not much use for gold coins! By buying rings and braclets you are still paying a premium but you are stacking and getting pleasure out of your purchases.
 
Yeah, may have to. Just wondering are there jewellers that don't charge high premiums for design and manufacture? And what do you suggest 18k or 24k? Just from experience that big 24k necklaces are soft and can be prone to snapping.
 
My wife is a fan of rings so I just stick with that

Most jewellers charge what they think the market can stand, so not cheap.

Jewellery often comes up on here for sale at reasonable prices but my wife seems to think the rings in the high street are from freshly mined gold and not at all second hand like the ones on here.

I have little say in what is bought but the 24k stuff seems to deform, especially if it is worn with other rings.

eBay below spot for rings and bracelets. Used necklaces are not a recommendation, they become fragile with age.

According to the World Gold Council, a gold industry body, the total weight of gold mined since the beginning of civilization is approximately 171,300 tonnes.

Crammed into a single block, it'd form a cube 20.7m on all sides.

Given how efficiently gold is recycled throughout the centuries its possible a fraction of every piece she owns was once part of...
...a Spanish gold doubloon, or
...a Pharoah's burial mask, or
...even a royal crown.

and regardless of where its been or what it was used for; its literally traveled light-years from a distant star to be deposited here on this tiny mote of dust and water we call Earth.

So its pretty pointless ,at least to me, to complain about gold being 'used'. Gold is Gold.
 
I like jewellery but I'm always so nervous wearing gold that I never do. It seems like advertising 'rob me', though with the amount of junk jewellery you could probably get away with it now. "Only you'll know" lol
 
On that note, wife's dad had a 1kg 24k necklace - think Mr T, but it was a religious item. Anyhow he lost it in a hotel, but suspect the cleaners swiped it from him, without a way of proving it he couldn't do anything about it.
