Why is this site so "Australia" heavy?

You can all come on up to Canada. We have plenty of space and are happy to have you...especially if you speak English! :)
Gee thanks for that very generous offer  but I feel we are to close to the US now... Whether we live in Canamerica or chi'stralia, we'll all be speaking mandarin eventually.

Just becasue you live in Australia doesn't mean you're Australian ;)

I've talked to plenty of members who live on the Great Southern Land but are actually citizens elsewhere or have strong connections to other countries. Gives the forum a nice international flavour

And a couple like me who are the opposite: Australian, but living outside Australia. :)

It's not the "folks" I'm worried about. It's the government tyranical overlords that bother me :)

This site is full of Ameristralians

I think this map sums up what Australia is... we are on top of the world!

I would think that Australia and Canada are probably the best English speaking countries to live in, Australia slightly better than Canada due to its distance from US. ;) ha ha

Probably because the forums.silverstackers.com domain is hosted in a Melbourne datacentre. In my experience physical server location does make a difference with Google rankings.

Yes, this is entirely true.

Also, don't forget the power of word of mouth. Which is how I was introduced to this site. People forget how important old fashioned ideas like talking still are! :D

... or maybe Aussies are more well informed about the imminent collapse of the world economy, world currencies, etc.

Perhaps we Aussies are smarter than what the world made us to believe about ourselves?

Isolation could be a good thing, it shields us from group think and herd mentality.

North Korea is one if the most, if not most, isolated country in the world, but that doesn't help their herd mentality. :P

There is at least one German forum which has more users. Well Germany has much bigger population than AUS. I'm not visiting it because I don't understand German. :) I would say that Germany is (also) leading EU country in precious metals. They even have TV shows with auctions, etc. Their VAT on silver was amongst lowerst in EU, 7%. It will be increased to around 20% in the begining of next year.

I like this forum because it has nice modern and clean design and people are mainly communicating politely. :)

Not to mention that it probably had the biggest Norfed thread of all. :D
