Why are there so many lies & half truths in the silver community?

Every day lies, fear & greed are used to sell silver . There's so much distrust in this one investment.. I belong to several investment forums & other silver forums. The common denominator on EVERY silver board is the shocking realization that so many people believe the lies.. Easily spottable & proovable lies.

I cringe every time I read strong hands,i haven't lost any ounces, crimex, manipulation, disconnect, and a hundred more.

I lurk around many forums, as well. This is the only one I post in. Why?

Simple. The people here are generally more friendly. Many here are not trying to follow a herd, rather pick apart all information and make their own decision. It just so happens many of us come to similar conclusions.

Most here do not hype near as much as other forums. Most arguments seen on these forums never result in swearing. Usually just an "agree to disagree" type of thing.

So I would resent your assumption, after being here 5 days, that our community is full of lies, hate, greed, whatever.

Those who have realistic and well thought out plans usually do well in the long term.
Many who have unrealistic aspirations and want immediate gratification are nearly always bitterly disappointed.
Ripe fodder for the spruikers machinations.
This is where the men are separated from the boys.

edit, typo.

Good post. There's just so many looking for the immediate gratification.. It seems to me like as soon as they get their metal bought they expect the price to shoot straight up & become agitated when it doesn't.

If you really want a insight to a complete nut, read this guy.. & he's sold hundreds of millions of metal..

Secession

Maybe I am harping on a subject, but what in the world does Texas need with Washington D.C.? Washington D.C. is a thorn in the side of everyone, and a very costly thorn, which is virtually impossible to extract. Washington D.C. is an albatross around everyone's neck, and with a bit of common sense, not only Texas, but Alaska should secede. Alaska certainly doesn't need the D.C. bureaucrats, regulations, taxes, and harassment, any more than Texas. Both should secede! Alaska is too cold for me, but the Texas heat might not bother me.

Muslim violence

I cannot understand a religion that practices the most hideous forms of violence and murder. Ever heard of a Christian or Jew planting roadside bombs, blowing up restaurants, police stations, libraries, and government buildings? Heard of a Christian or Jew trying to blow up an airplane with a shoe bomb, or attempting to blow up Times Square? The Boston Bombers were two Muslim brothers. Know of a Christian or Jew killing other Jews or Christians? The Sunnis love to kill and Shiites, and do it all the time! Thousands of Shiites have been murdered by Sunnis over the years, and they're both Muslims. The Quern says that infidels should be killed. The Bible has no such instructions, and the Bible condemns murder. A Muslim who murders, is promised instant paradise and virgins to boot. I just don't understand how the Muslim religion seems to be increasing in numbers, when it advocates violence and murder. Christianity and Judaism advocate monogamy, and Muslims like polygamy. Christians and Jews are taught to respect women and wives, as opposed to Muslim's harsh treatment of females. Maybe that's why American soldiers are afraid of Muslims, who have shot U.S. soldiers in the back. Muslims seem to regard 'infidels', such as U.S. Soldiers, as being worthy of death, and are "The Great Satan." Is that why we have wasted the decades there, with little success? Is Iraq a success? Hardly, as the murders and corruption continue unabated, and oil profits are unknown. Has there been progress in Afghanistan? Not that I can see, as the corruption, murders, and heroin continue. The trillions of dollars wasted in Iraq and Afghanistan has cost us all dearly in reduced value dollars, which is a tax we all are forced to pay for George Bush's two wars he got us into, for no reason. World War Two lasted less than four years. We've been in Iraq and Afghanistan for 13 years now, with nothing accomplished other than thousands of dead, tens of thousands of injured and mentally harmed as well.

Personally I think it's more a US stacker mentality if you read any American forum that kind of sentiment is much more prevalent.

I struggle to wade through kitco because of the whole guns and hide in the hills SHTF business.

I quit kitco because as you say,it's way over the top. They're literally buying & casting silver bullets over there.

I would tend to agree with you and go as far as saying it seems there are many more ignorant sheeple in America than elsewhere.

However, let us not forget that there are always some who disprove stereotypes :)

I think it is part of the growing process; the less silver stacked - the more info you take in; the more silver stacked - the more discerning you are of the information you take in. You can't put old heads on young shoulders.

BamaGuy, you become part of the problem by generalising "that so many people believe the lie." You also wrap up your rhetoric in emotional language.

Your case bears discussion, but your presentation attacks the veterans along with the newbies. It would appear that only you know better.

In fact I am planning to one day.

Nope, plenty of all types here in Aus too.
You don't hold monopolies on any of this various Human detritus, you just have a larger population and a larger profile.

I should qualify what I wrote - It was a quick reply from my phone.

I think us Aussies probably have the same ratios of "people looking for sound investments" versus "people who are sheeple nuts" as any country its just that we are a nation of 22mil versus the US 314mil so their count of nuts probably equals our total population ;)

The reason I think we are seeing so many lies being perpetrated is because there are as many snake oil salesmen trying to hype silver for their own gain as there are used car salesmen trying to sell their over valued cars. These disgusting people know better but they just don't care about misleading anyone. And of course, add to that a bunch of people who just obey the loudest shouting permabulls and never question the rhetoric they spit out in any serious way. The hysteria that can ensue is a recipe for over valuation. Fortunately, I think more people have been starting to question the permabulls faulty logic and this can only be good for all who are looking to buy pm's.

Though I have been stacking for only about 8 months or so, I have been reading articles and watching videos put out by permabulls (and other investment sales people) for over a year. As an astute student I feel I am qualified to give the impression that I have given. That has been my experience.

Bullion Baron I think it's up to everyone to analyse data and events (preferrably from sources who haven't already wrapped them in a narative) and come to their own conclusions. There are vested interests and spruikers pumping all investment classes and even in some cases just genuine people sharing their thoughts who sometimes or always get it wrong. It's a minefield out there

I agree...well said

Muslim violence

I cannot understand a religion (blah, blah, blah...)

That knucklehead is either completely ignorant or a flat out Islamaphobe.

& the worst pimp of all... Check out this spin..

Silver is up to around $20/oz. now from $4.15/oz in 2003, and an average of $5/oz. where it languished for about 15-20 years from 1983 to 2003.

So, from $5 to $20 is a gain of 300% That's not insubstantial. But two years ago, silver hit $49.50/oz., so I could have said we had a gain of 1000% in 8 years, and that's a bit more impressive.

In fact, it's phenomenal, it's a price explosion, and we remain in the midst of this price explosion, we are just on a dip now. The price explosion in silver is not done, because the big three main drivers of silver prices remain in place: the world continues to consume silver in 10,000 different industrial applications, the governments of the world continue to print paper money like insane baboons, and no nation on earth is using silver coins as circulating currency, so monetary demand remains at zero, and can only change in one direction, which is up.

I especially love how he says "Silver is up to around $20/oz. now from $4.15/oz in 2003" like thats wonderful news to most silver investors...

I love this guy...

.
Finally, let me review what I wrote in Feb. of 2013.
http://silverstockreport.com/2013/silver-bull-market-10-year-review.html

"Silver should continue to do better than the last ten year average of about 22% per year, on average, from $4.15 to $30 over ten years. Expect 30% per year, on average. Expect silver to do worse right after it has gained more than 30% in the prior year, and expect silver to do better after a year when it has done worse.

Silver prices have stagnated, consolidated for the past two years from the prior peak of just under $50/oz.

I expect silver prices near $45 to $50 before the end of 2013. $50 will likely be an epic price battle that may last 6 months to a year.

Silver should hit $75 to $125 in the next peak or run up, likely sometime before the end of 2014."

Since we have just passed the mid way of 2013, and since the battle for $50 might take 6 months to cross, and since we have not hit $50 yet this year, then silver might not hit $50 by the end of this 2013, but perhaps that is more likely by mid 2014.

It would be if you purchased in 2003.

My guess is there's not too many on this forum who have an average buy price of $4.

I think most of us are here because we're stacking physical silver, and we must be doing that because we believe that silver (as well as gold, platinum, palladium) is a good long term asset to hold in spite of short term or even medium term volatility. Otherwise, why would we bother? Sure there's a range of directions and worldviews people are coming from, but we stack because we believe its worth while is surely the bottom line.
