When dollar collapses

I recently went (reluctantly but not as a spectator) to an offroad 4x4 event in the hunter. The place was full of bogans. Full to the brim of the dead$hits who have no brains.
From what saw it is not just in the cities that people would have the potential to go mental.

One guy was genuinely surprised when the police threw him out at 10pm for violence wearing only a pair of shorts (no thongs or tshirt) with his mates, phone, money and bedding all inside. He had zero concept of consequences for his actions.

While I don't believe in civil shtf and a currency crisis in australia, an environmental or energy crisis that interrupts food availability for an extended time will bring out the worst in some people.
This is what prepping is about, to make sure you are able to be okay if there is an interruption to food supplies arising from environmental events, not zombies.

Knowledge is king. Stack survival books.

But seriously, a dollar collapse will not lead to widespread violence and starvation. The economy can function just fine without the fiat banksters... in fact better I think. I don't think it will get to collapse, we will have a conscious transition period demanded by the people, before it gets to collapse. Would be more worried about another oil embargo. If transport stops suddenly the poo will really hit the fan fast.
By the time you realise you need the survival skills, it's going to be too late to learn them from books. Stockpile enough supplies to let you survive 4 weeks without leaving your house. Think Hurrican Katrina.

A dollar collapse is only the start of the problem. The reaction from the government (bank accounts being frozen/siphoned, credit disappearing, hyper-inflation) will destroy supply chains. Initially, cash will be king. Food and oil run out first, and within a few weeks water, power, sewerage. After that, it's every man for himself.

(NB: All the above is worst-case scenario. Not the most likely scenario, but still very possible.)

I'm from Pennsylvania and every year there are over one million hunters in the woods with guns. I also carry a conceal weapon on a daily basis. I've never been shot at nor shot anyone. People who don't understand them usually hate guns and the people that do understand gun safety. If the SHTF, gold and silver won't save you.

its just as the great louie C.K once said "the law against murder, is the number 1 thing preventing murder" ..thats what gun people have to understand, without that law.. MY GOD... its untested... and u guys WILL find out.

You certainly don't need a gun to murder someone, knife, rock or your bare hands can do the job. An armed populace is a safe populace. As a Japanese general said before Pearl Harbor, we should never attack the U.S. because there is a rifle behind every blade of grass.

If I had to kill someone with a gun I could, like most people in the world.. but if i gave u a knife and said stab that person to death almost nobody would... and almost nobody would want to get in a fist fight because u WILL get hurt and u never know if u will win. guns are clean and u have 100% chance of winning. You don't have to be a crazy psycho maniac to kill someone with a gun. but to kill somone with your bare hands or a knife, thats pretty intense. no matter how crazy the world gets almost nobody would do that.

I could and would kill in self-defense but never harm someone for no reason. I own around 100 firearms ( I'm a collector) and have carried a concealed handgun ( legal permit) for over 30 years. Whyon earth would YOU shoot ssomeone just because you own a gun?

The people responsible for these would of probably thought the same thing :P

Number of Murders by Firearms, US, 2009: 9,146
Number of Murders by Firearms, US, 2010: 11,078
Number of Murders by Firearms, US, 2011: 11,101

I bet most of these would not of happened if guns were not so easily accessible in your country. To be able to walk down a public street with a concealed automatic hand gun legally just by paying a fee is atrocious.

I don't think you should be talking guns on SS. Can develop into a real sh.. fight.

If GP sees this, he will close this down as he has done in the past.

Be warned.

Now look up how many are killed by drunk drivers. Its already against the law to kill people but that doesn't stop them. I'm sure there are no murders in your country because guns are illegal. Not to mention automatic weapons are against the law. I carry either semi auto or a revolver depending on my mood. Criminals commit crimes and we carry guns to protect us from them.
In my state we have the Castle Doctrine which allows a citizen to
defend themselves with a firearm to protect themselves from bodily harm. In Erie County where I live, almost 10% of the citizens have concealed carry permits. Its a safe place to live

Here you can kill someone in the capitals metro while stealing his mp3player, some months later you can go watch football accompanied by some state-employed 'guard' (he looked more like a butler tho).
Here you can break into 50 houses, treaten people, shoot around, kill a young woman cop, and during the entirety of this story, be arrested and released 10 times.
Here, as an illegal, you can be arrested and released 25 times, with the cops knowing you, saying oh it's you again.
Here, you can be haunted by 150 cops and a couple choppers, for an entire night, to be released next days evening.
Here, State heavily subsidizes local arts, movies, whatever 'eco', and buys 'crazy' (you know what I mean, it's 'special', and 'ugly', ornaments, to put in public places. Yet, prisons so called lack the money to replace old cell locks that prisoners are able to open, and even lack money (dito in army) to buy toilet paper.
This all has something in common: others, forced to do so, pay the associated bills.
Crap State, and my silver is one of the middlefingers I show them.

Yeah, real safe. If the people are to blame then it will only make it worse by giving them an easy means. This 'protection' system doesn't seem to be working now. Maybe when the English were trying to suppress you, but it has become out of control now. I'm not saying take guns away, I'm saying have some control about who has them.

Your words reminded me of this spoken word song...

I don't see how the dollar can 'collapse' alone. As far as I see what the central banks do, together in a coordinated fashion, it can only be all or none.

BiGs I'm assuming by you saying my words remind you of that mans act was meant as an insult. What is your idea of the U.S. and Americans? That? Have you ever visited? Most Americans I deal with would never go out of their way to insult someone because they disagreed with their views. And my city is safe, the people are friendly and helpful to strangers.
I'm not trying to change your or anyone, s opinion of our laws and rights, just stating facts. I'm 55 and know no one personally who have been the victim of violent crime. Over 300 million people live in the U.S. so those few you see on the news are a very tiny percentage of the population.
We are an independent people and our constitution guarantees us certain rights they we have no intention of relinquishing.
Have a nice day

a1nipper,

Having been to the USA 3 times over 93 nights, I cannot but agree.

Walking around American cities and suburbs I have NEVER felt unsafe, though I confess maybe a couple of times i should have. Taylor St San Francisco is one and a couple in New Orleans and NYC another.

"the natives are friendly"

OC.

...and if it had not been for James Cook and later Arthur Phillip, the FRENCH would have been the ones to take it.

It was NEVER going to stay unoccupied by the Europeans.

Our indigenous brothers suffered the same fate as all but a handful of peoples suffered over the centuries. Even the Anglo-Saxons.

The French came before the English, but came in the wrong season (in WA) and found it too dry... and the Dutch before the French...

Interesting that you name three cities that have some of THE tightest control on firearms in the entire USA..
So you felt the LEAST safe in cities where the control was the highest?
How interesting... :)
Just a Coincidence perhaps?
