It also depends on the seller. Generally - I see lower premiums on bars than on coins.
And I think buyers are more inclined towards buying a bar "locked" in a case.
Coins can be very nice and beautiful, but with no protective packaging just the writing on them "pure gold", it's harder to re-sell.
The packages itself (some have holograms, codes etc.) serves as an additional "security feature". And I think Perth Mint, PAMP have some of the best certifying packages. Heraeus' packages look rather weak, sensitive.
...but then, of course... there are near perfect fakes.
