Im a stacker. And basically only stackers know silvers value. If there is a SHTF scenario, ill take your "whatever else is laying around" before the silver. And so would everyone else.

My mood? Not much to say (I've only been stacking for 3 yrs so far). If spot hits 35 US$/oz, I'll get rid of it. If not, it will be passed on.

But with 30 yrs investment experience stemming from the stock market, I take the PMs volatility with a smile.

Speaking of volatility, alongside physical I also bought mining stocks. Now that has been a bumpy ride, but again, I take it with a smile (opted for some profit-taking).

Its self explanatory. Who do u know that knows the current price, its history and reasons why it has value, that is not a stacker/dealer?

I don't see silver as an investment, so I am indifferent. I don't beleive I will profit from it but it is bought and paid for so I will be happy to know my kids may benifit from it in the future. I enjoy stacking silver but it's always the same for me, buy silver, wait for it, open package, admire the shiney, store away, repeat. I don't care either way what the price does, I won't loose my shirt nor will I get rich.

I love watching the price of silver go higher than what I paid for it...
I love watching junk silver dissolve in acid...
I love watching silver powder cascade off a copper bar immersed into the result...
I love watching zillions of shiny silver crystals form in the electrolytic cell...
I love watching molten silver pour and solidify...

(And I love all the above for gold even more)
 
I feel great as from the beginning I've taken the semi numismatic path. Dont need to pay attention to the swings up and down regarding bullion price. Only if I am on the lookout to buy.

Such a lack of love for silver in this forum.
Silver needs to be treated for what it is "a commodity" you do not buy commodities and sit on them , you trade them.
Silver is not like property that you can buy and bank and wait for capital gains.
Silver needs to be constantly sold and replenished just like coffee or corn or wheat.
Buy low ,sell high.

Anyway, I do have some love for silver. It serves two purposes for me, 1 is forced saving and 2 is a long term investment/hedge against fiat currency instability. I am not bulk stacking though, I am focusing mostly on semi-numi coins with a history of price appreciation due to being highly collectible.
 
I started stacking at the start of the year, got $4k in silver so far. I just started on gold and intend to buy more of that.

Quite happy with it, but realise it could easily have gone the other way.

Like fscked above, I use it to save money as forced savings too. I would like to wait for the Aussie housing bubble to burst, and then maybe find a decent property.

Jeez, that sounds too much like having a second job.

Unlike coffee or corn or wheat silver doesn't go off and doesn't need climate controlled storage. The one good thing it has over those other commodities is that you can just tuck it away without worrying that it is going to spoil or get eaten by rats.

If I wanted to do all the buy low, sell high, high frequency transactions I would go into shares or something similar.

Silver has the major benefit of being able to be ignored for several years without too much worry and without the need to be trying to predict weather patterns in Columbia to know whether your coffee is going to go up or down at the next harvest.

For that reason alone I like it.

I have stopped buying Perth Mint and Royal Canadian Mint bullion and 'semi numismatic' products for that exact reason.

Fingers crossed that only a very small proportion of my stack will be affected, it is a relatively recent innovation for the Perth Mint so I am hoping that my 2012 Dragons are OK, everything else is low premium.
 
I don't feel depressed, even though the news lately have been mostly about the rising crisis and failing financial system threats. Everything is cyclical and such situations have occured earlier already, so maybe it will change soon

The first real 100% sign of GFC2 is when MSM names specific bank and says that bank is about to go Kaput (im not talking about fines, I am talking literally saying the bank is bankrupt) because no media mainstream or the pumpers will make that up because they will be sued to nothing.

All the doomsayers and MSM might talk about end of the world in general. All that is just noise, they are all playing Chinese whispers and reciting astrology.
